After taking the late Spring and Summer off from CPDN I just got a new model yesterday. I have a few questions about the new models. 1) How many timesteps to a model, and between checkpoints? 2) I don\'t have access to the computer it is running on, I keep track using BoincView, and only see the percent completed, now at 0.06% At what Percent dues it report a trickle? With the sulpher units that was every 0.84% (for those who don\'t use BoincView it is run from a remote location and we don\'t have the show graphics button) 3) In another thread Carl said there would be some shorter models for new users and people who had them crash. I have had some crash in the past, but have completed several. How do I tell if this is a 160, 80 or 40 year model? Thank you Ray Keep on crunching Pizza@Home |

Hi, * 160 years in the model * 25920 timesteps per year * The checkpoint is, erm, 6 model days? May be wrong. * Once trickle per year (0.625%) At the moment, only 160 year models have been generated. However, as you\'ve probably gathered, this model differs from Sulphur in that data is uploaded during the trickles, and extra at 1960, 2000, and 2040. So in practical terms, you can look at the 160 year model as being the same as 4 consecutive 40 year models. A crash in the year 2001 only loses one year of processing, not 81 years of processing. I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |

Thank you, and I see thay have a longer deadline of 19 Mo. also, but not inforced. I don\'t run CPDN in the summer due to the heat it creates and no AC whare I have that system. Looks like I will be able to suspend in for a few Mo. next year with no problem. Keep on crunching Pizza@Home |
