Hi, I\'m finding it frustrating trying to work out where it\'s all going and in what timeframes. You can kind of work a few things out if you trawl through all the pages. But there is no place where you can get a neat overview of the what the various experiments and experimental phases are and what the timeing of it all is. Or for that matter what is the status of any of planned software or website enhancements. For example There was a notice in the \'Advanced Visualisation\' section when I joined up at the beginning of the year saying that it doesn\'t work with the new version of BOINC, but will soon. If by \"soon\" you mean by Christmas after next, why not just say so and save everyone the frustration? It\'s clear that in order to run smoothly, the project really requires more staff and resources than currently available. (I get the feeling that project staff are feaverishly away behind the scenes desperately trying to catch up with timelines.) However, the creation of a roadmap would help us at least understand what is going on and save us all drumming our fingers waiting for vague tidbits to arrive in the news section once every few months. Regards C. |

The science pages here explain quite a lot. The Experiment Strategy explains the various stages along the way, Secondary Experiments is about two of the \'side paths\' investigated, and More Information contains a list of research papers published, etc. The improved Advanced Visualisation program, the original of which was written externally, never eventuated, and is now obsolete. The project is now in it\'s final stage, with a combined experiments 2 and 3 model, the Transient Coupled Model. The team can be seen on the Team page, under: Oxford University » Atmospheric, Oceanic & Planetary Physics. However, several of these people have now moved on to other research areas, and some have not been replaced. The climate project is a small part of the work of this department, and resources are whatever can be obtained by various grants. Finally, if you want to see what gets posted by the researchers, when they have time, as well as other crunchers then THIS is were we all \'hang out\'. |

Hi Craig I would join with Les in suggesting that going to the php forum is a good idea, if only because it has a View New Posts Since Last Visit feature, which saves a lot of time and trawling. You have to register separately; it\'s a good idea to keep the same name so we know who you are. But the php forum will probably be down for maintenance on Thursday. The 4 Readme posts here http://bbc.cpdn.org/forum_forum.php?id=4 are compendiums of links to almost everything important. Cpdn news |
