I\'ve posted this question on the general BIONIC manage forum, got lots of helpful suggestions but nothing that helped, so I thought I would try here. I\'m running BIONIC on a IBM thinkpad with Intel Pentium M processor 2.00GHz and 1GB RAM with windows XP. This should give me plenty of processing power, but under task manager I see that I only reach 15-30% CPU use. I feels like I\'m wasting lots of processing power!! I\'ve had the project running a couple of weeks now (24hrs a day) but the CPU time recorded on BIONIC is only on 40hours (the seconds do move but only 1 about once every 5-10 real seconds, this means my current prediction of 2356 hours will be at least 5 or maybe 10 times this..! I checked all my settings, got lots of vitual memory, made sure I can use all 100% CPU use (when I run benchmark tests the CPU use goes upto 100%), when I run other taks on the computer the CPU use also goes up nicely. Basically I\'m stumped, any suggestions would be great. Thank! |

This is a Mobile processor. Some of these have settings in the BIOS about automatically slowing down processing based on certain thresholds. You might want to start there. The next thing is make sure it is staying cool. These automatically pull back if getting too warm. |

I\'ll go into the BIOS and have a look. I\'m not sure that it is a cooling problem because the CPU never gets up to 100% in the beginning, if it was a cooling problem I would expect BIONIC to max out at 100% for a while, then get too hot and start winding down again, I nver get above 20-30% with BIONIC in the first place. The strange thing is other application can get the processor up to to 100%... |

In task manager, which task is it which gets the rest of the CPU? (most likely to be System Idle Process). I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |

You guessed right system idel get about 75-80% of the CPU time. I\'ve been into the BIOS now and made sure all settings are on maximum performance rather than heat and noise reduction, still no change :( I\'ve also tried going into task manager and changing the priority of the task up to High, didn\'t help either.... |

You\'re not, by any chance, running ThreadMaster? We spent a lot of time on this sort of problem some months ago, only to find out after a lot of \'head scratching\' that the person WAS running it and didn\'t tell us. |

I\'ve not installed any program called Threadmaster so I guess I\'m not running it. Is it a download program or might it be installed automatically with anything else? |

WAIT!! I\'ve certainly not installed any program called threadMAster but I\'ve just checked under my processes list and there is a process called ThreadMast.exe running, uses 1428kB memeory, not CPU. The program is not in my start menu, how do I get at it to deactivate ? Looks like we might be on to something..! |

Look in the Add Remove Programs on your Control Panel, see if Threadmaster can be uninstalled that way. |

It looks more complicated than that, I\'ve been reading up on the Threadmasters home page. I think the best thing to do (seeing as I am on a laptop) is to try and work out the confirugration of Threadmaster and set it to 100%, then if I do encounter overheadting problem I can lower this to 75% etc. Is anyone out there a Threadmaster expert, I feel like I am swimming out into deep water.... |

Problem Solved !! Thanks everyone for all you help. It was that pesky ThreadMaster program which I didn\'t even know was running in the background. All I need to do now is keep an eye on the internal temperature to make sure I don\'t burn out my laptop! By the way does anyone know a rule of thumb max temp which I should set a warning at for CPU temp in a laptop? Thanks again! |

Well, I\'m glad was solved without too much hassle. Lots of thinks seem to happen here when I\'m sleeping. |
