Basically, I am rebuilding Liunx on a computer and giving the computer a new host name. The version of Linux will not change, but the hard drive will be repartitioned. What pitfalls, if any, should I be aware of when movig the current climate prediction model to the rebuilt system?

Currently I\'m thinking I will:
1.) stop boinc, and tar the files in the boinc directory.
2.) move the tar file to another computer.
3.) repartition and rebuild the Linux computer; and, install boinc.
4.) copy the tar\'d boinc files to the new boinc folder, and away we go.

Does anyone see anything I\'m missing, or have other suggestions?

Looks good to me, Chris, and welcome to the Boards.

Only thing I see is that installing boinc before-untarring the transferred directory shouldn\'t be necessary. Tar should put it all back together as it was before starting the exercise. (Re-installing boinc is necessary in Windoze to establish Registry entries. Linux is cleaner.)

Edit: It\'s necessary to tar the entire boinc folder (directory), not just the CPDN part.
From my experience moving Runs, boinc will pick-up the new name and force a new computer ID number. The old computer\'s stats can possibly be merged with the new in \"Your account\". (The new name might prevent it, though.)
