Last night I left my pc to do some calculating while I was sleeping. When I looked at the boinc manager in the morning my task from CPDN had disappeared. I can remember that I was around 4%. Any suggestinons or ideas what has happened? Bye.

Hi,

It crashed at around 6am (reported at 7:30am), with an \'exit code 0\'. Is there anything with runs on your PC in the early hours? (perhaps an antivirus scan). Could the PC have been rebooted? (Perhaps by an automatic update).

10x for the quick response :) I stared virus check & defragmentation of my hard disk along with the boinc manager, but there were no reboots of my system.

...and one more question - I got a new task, but what should I do with my previos one when it is not displayed in the boinc manager? Is it save to delete it manually from my hard disk?

Hi Bratolin

It\'s essential to exit from boinc + model for scans of every type, and to suspend or exit for defragging. Right-click on the boinc icon in the system-tray, bottom right of screen, and select.

To avoid having this sort of model crash again, it would be a good idea to look at the README posts here:

http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=5896

In the Running the model README, look at the top tips.

In the Solutions to models crashing README look at

*link #1 by Les who explains how to back models up. So if your new model does crash, you can restore the backup and continue processing it.

*link #5 by Mike who explains all the basic precautions to keep models safely running.

The best idea is not to delete anything from the cpdn/boinc folder.
