ok, I\'ll just leave the extra projects out of the \"total credit.\" it would still show up on your personal page at the bottom, but these won\'t be factored in to the total credit. the bbc account information has still been copied over to the main cpdn, so you don\'t have to create an account here. I think after this fiasco I will never attempt to do anything with credits again, they\'ve always been the bane of this project! |

what we ended up with is the credits stay separate for each project, but on your user & team pages here there are extra rows showing the \"extra credits\" you or your team may have done as beta testers, spinups, BBC expt etc. These \"extra credits\" aren\'t added to the CPDN total though, so it is \"fair\" for external stats (i.e. what is \"total credit\" on this site is really what was downloaded from this site). That should hopefully make (for example) BBC teams & participants migrating over, feel that their efforts are counted in the main site, as well as keep the serious BOINC stats sites & stats fanatics happy & consistent. |

So those of us who took part in the spinup project, and suspended the normal projects to do so, are now going to lose that from their total even though it has been included for the last year or so? Hmmm. Perhaps the stats for the original HadSM3 project on BOINC should also be removed from the total. They are just as much \"not part of the current CPDN project\" as the spinup was. Ian |

OTOH, spinup had been merged into the credits long ago. So instead of my old classic credits being taken into account, which was a nice surprise, I now \'lose\' the spinup. Willy: where did you see the spinup and classic credits in the stats? (Ian, we were writing at the same time :-) ) Forum search Site search |

I have no problems including the Spinup and Classic credits. I have a problem with moving credit from one BOINC project to another and from most BOINC users and my perspective CPDN, SAP and BBC are separate projects. Users of stats sites also like to see the \'old\' stats of retired projects (had this experience when Pirates went offline), and they like them included in their totals (see the percentage they crunched for each project). Merging the credits of CPDN, SAP and BBC into CPDN means dropping SAP and BBC from the totals on the stats sites (at least on BOINCstats) to prevent double counting of credits. This way users loose some accuracy in their stats. BOINCstats |

SAP and BBC are separate projects started for different reasons to the main CPDN project. The main CPDN project is just that, a single project that consists of a number of different experiments, HadSM3, Suplhur, Spinup and Coupled (I think that\'s all?) with each one being dependant on it\'s predecessor. It would seem to me that credit obtained during any one of these experiments should be counted as credit towards the users total for the \"CPDN project\". <shrug> but what do I know :-) |

Willy, thanks for your reply. I think the SAP/BBC issue should be discussed among their participants. Two things to consider: I understand new SAP work has been issued, so the project is stil live. Maybe there is time to look at the BBC experiment, since it\'s not yet complete. Can we have the opinion of users switching to the main CPDN project after completing theit BBC runs? Carl, sorry for the trouble, can we just get back to where we were? (Actually, I\'d be glad to get the classic counted in ;-) ) I certainly go with Ian for the spinup. whoops, looks like I went to far the other way! It certainly doesn\'t make sense to weed out the classic & spinup #\'s. It was just an artifact of the new way I\'m tracking these \"extraneous\" credits. So spinups & classic CPDN will be counted back in here, and also the current & future beta tests (whenever I figure out an appropriate beta credit scheme). This makes sense because no other stats sites will have the spinup & classic #\'s, so they should go here. The BBC & Seasonal credits will show up for \"display purposes only\" here, and the stats sites of course will carry this site & the BBC & Seasonal projects for intercomparisons as well. |

Hm, seems I lost 110,000 points or so, was that the Spinup? |

Excellent. Good sense has prevailed !! Well done for taking the time to listen to members and acting accordingly in a common sense manner.. regards Tim regards, Tim UK BOINC Team Founder Join the UK BOINC Team: http://www.ukboincteam.org.uk/newforum |

Thanks a million, Carl. (though I\'ll have to wait a year or so for the million credits, unless I get an admin to let me use a few machines at work) Again, congrats for all the hard work and let\'s hope it wil be useful for us all. Maurice Forum search Site search |

Thanks Carl - the better solution in my view ;) I was actually going to mention that Spinup, forexample, shouldn\'t be filtered out, as it has always either been non-existent (in the beginning) or included in main, but you figured that out on your own :) Sorr for all the commotion - and thank you for taking it in good spirit :) |

I\'ve tried to locate the discussion about the merge on the other forum, but couldn\'t find it. Does anyone have a link to the relevant threads? I suppose there are many of them for such a grave change. Grüße vom Sänger |

The \"community\" was the BBC \"vocal set\", who were complaining bitterly that they were being ignored and forgotten about and were losing all of their credits and models that they\'d worked on by being forced to move to the cpdn site. Posts were made on their boards about what was going on. Carl was trying to keep them happy, but it was causing problems. The problems were discussed, and new ideas suggested, INCLUDING going back to the way things were. And I WAS relaying concerns from both here and the BOINCstats shout box. I don\'t know how it\'s done on other projects, and I don\'t care, but here we often talk about problems in private. Most of which is what to do about certain spammers, and the best way to deal with sites constantly posting porn links, etc. |

The \"community\" was the BBC \"vocal set\", who were complaining bitterly that they were being ignored and forgotten about and were losing all of their credits and models that they\'d worked on by being forced to move to the cpdn site. But nothing is lost. It\'s all there in the stats pages. They will always be the ones who \"won\" BBC, the credits will still be in the BOINC combined, as usual for 2 distinct projects (or a project and it\'s permanent beta). Carl was trying to keep them happy, but it was causing problems. The problems were discussed, and new ideas suggested, INCLUDING going back to the way things were. The shout box is the worst place to discuss anything. It all slips into oblivion after a few hours or minutes. It should have been done in a proper thread. And of course in the broadest manner on both CPDN boards, the BOINC one (this) and the other one as well. I don\'t know how it\'s done on other projects, and I don\'t care, but here we often talk about problems in private. Now that\'s something completely different. This stuff belongs to some mod-board or -mailing list. Grüße vom Sänger |
