I have read in the forums about a model having an ice ball. What is an ice ball? <img src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/cpdn/stats.php?userID=187&trans=off"> |

It usually happens because something has gone wrong. Usually the model rewinds a bit and tries again but eventually it gives up. <a href="http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~sykesm/cpdn.html"><img src="http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~sykesm/gfx/sig.jpg"></a> |

Ok, i've understood what an ice ball is and how it occurs. I'm, curious to know whether its' opposite exists, i.e. a fire ball. <img src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/cpdn/stats.php?userID=35&trans=off"><a href="http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/thefinalfrontear/index.html"> Team Site Link</a> |

Models can get extremely hot from time to time due to the parameters. However there are feedbacks that prevent them from going to fireballs when they get unstable. An unstable model will always go cold because there is nothing to prevent it from getting colder. Sorry but it will take someone with a bit more knowledge of the model to explain why that is so. <br>John Keck -- BOINCing since 2002/12/08 -- <a href="http://www.boinc.dk/index.php?page=user_statistics&project=cpdn&userid=191"><img border="0" height="80" src="http://191.cpdn.sig.boinc.dk?188"></a> |
