I\'ve just downloaded a shiny new BOINC(5.10.7), which runs in 64 bits mode, but now I can\'t upload any trickles whatsoever. Only the client runs in 64bits, the models (sadly) still run in 32. Since I upgraded during the whole database havock, I assumed that it had something to do with this, but now the server keeps denying my attempts to share my computers\' latetst vision on the future climate. The error code I receive is: platform \'windows_x86_64\' not found so it seems to be a problem server-side, maybe this upgrade has passed your attention or you\'ve put it in the waiting room? Or I should downgrade because CDPN is not for a long time going to change to 64 bits, so it is useless to run this client. |

It\'s not BOINC that\'s the problem, it\'s your OS. (I\'m running 5.10.7 OK on 32 bits.) It\'s all due to the server only having 32 bit applications, (like most of the BOINC projects), and you\'re attempting to access it with a 64 bit computer operating system. Nothing is being lost of your modelling; you just have to load the 32 bit software that came with your OS, and THAT will access the servers OK. All of this has been mentioned many times on the Questions and answers part of this forum, along with the names of the needed programs. |

There\'s nothing wrong with running the regular 32 bit BOINC software in 64 bit Windows as lots of people are doing it. There is no special loading or installation in WinXP 64 to make this happen. It\'s the relatively new 64 bit BOINC software that is not recognized by the servers here. Going back to the 32 bit BOINC software should work just fine. Some future cpdn models will be 64 bit, but it is unknown how far into the future that will occur, and how it will be implemented in BOINC. |

Oops. Yes, I see that BOINC now has a special 64 bit version. Up until now, people having this problem were having it because they were using only the 64 bit part of a 64 bit OS. So now there are 2 reasons for the problem: 1) A 64 bit OS, and no 32 bit extensions to it, using the \"normal\" 32 bit BOINC, 2) Using the new 64 bit version of BOINC. So, there are 2 solutions: In the 1st case, loading the 32 bit extensions, and then running the 32 bit apps, In the 2nd case, only running the 2 or 3 projects that currently have a 64 bit science app. (I think SETI is one.) |

So, there are 2 solutions: SETI@home don\'t have a 64-bit windows-application, instead they\'re running up-to-date server-code. How to handle the new 64-bit windows-clients was posted to boinc_projects on 14.05.2007, but not all projects has yet taken their time to upgrade... |

One of my WinXPx64 boxes has 5.10.7. It\'s running/uploading CPDN CM, Beta, and APS without issues. "We have met the enemy and he is us." -- Pogo Greetings from coastal Washington state, the scenic US Pacific Northwest. |

Sorry Ingleside. I thought that I\'d read somewhere, (BOINC/dev? BOINCstats shout box?), that SETI has had a 64 bit app for a while. Whatever. People who insist on running 64 apps can look for them themselves. The current climate models are very unlikely to every be converted to 64 bits; it takes too long to change the code, and lots more time to test. As for a server upgrade to take advantage of the new 64 bit BOINC, that too could take a while. When it happens, it will be announced in News and Announcements, both here and on the php board, and possibly on THIS site\'s download page as well. In the mean time, it\'s 32 bits only. And it works fine. :) Backups: Here |

Ok, I downgraded as suggested and am almost back to the point where I was before downgrading and starting from a backup. Too bad that the servers wont accept this new BOINC version for a while, because the BOINC-download website automatically offered me this version, lets hope it won\'t discourage too many new users.. |
