I was going to start a new thread on this, but obviously I don't have to.

So there's no way to back up the current work it's done, so it can continue after reinstallation of the operating system?

I am also considering reformatting my HD, but if this is the case, I'll wait until it's finished with the current WU.

Simply make a backup of your CPDN directory. After the new installation is finished, you'll have two options:
- install again BOINC and copy the backuped directory over the new one, overriting all files
- just copy the old directory and make the shortcuts manualy
In both cases you should preserve full paths and drve letters.

This may work. However BOINC verifies that the same computer that is sent the work returns the work (due an exploit used in S@H). So if you try it will almost certainly continue processing the work when you get running again, but the odds are much lower that the server will accept the work when finished.

Yes, it must work if you don't change nothing - just REinstall.

Even with a reinstall BOINC may not reconize it as the same computer. It is a chancy situation. My luck isn't good enough to try it, but yours may be.

Will merging hosts do anything or do the computer stats have to be the same?

Oh well. I guess I'll just wait for the current WU to complete and then reformat. It's 43% done anyway, so it won't be too long now...

The decision is yours, of course. I just reinstalled everything on my pc and I had no problems with the BOINC client to continue the model
