I am trying to register as a user from Montenegro (gained independence in June 2006, UN member since June 2006) - but there is no \"Montenegro\" available in the drop-down list of countries.

Users from Montenegro are forced to opt for the country \"Serbia-Montenegro\", which does not exist for almost a year and a half now.

The same problem is for users from Serbia - which is also a UN member.

Can this problem be corrected?

It will be corrected the next time the server software is updated.

This should be easy enough to fix.
But...
There are 220 users listed under Serbia and Montenegro, and I am not sure which one of those two countries they are from. The BOINC update code has this in it:

do_query(\"update team set country=\'Serbia\' where country=\'Serbia and Montenegro\'\");

The result of running that is probably not to the liking of anyone from Montenegro. I could do the opposite, with the opposite effect.

Milo, I don\'t think you need to do anything at the moment except upgrade the software when you can. The boinc programmers have made the changes; these changes will be very recent, just about 3 days old, because they got one of the countries wrong at first. I asked on the boinc forum whether the change would come into effect with the next software upgrade and was told by Nicolas

Yes; a database upgrade (edit and run db_update.php) is needed too.

I think this will just make the two separate countries available and the members from those areas will need to change their own registration details, choosing one or the other.

The effect of performing those updates you mention will be to change the details of all existing users from Serbia and Montenegro to Serbia, in addition to fixing the menu for those who register in future.
I mention this so that everyone is forewarned when this happens.

Oh dear. This may not please Montenegrans who aren\'t aware of the change. I hope you don\'t mind that I\'m going to copy your last post to the boinc_dev thread as I don\'t think this was made clear there.

In a couple of days I\'ll mention this in the News threads, advising Montenegrans to update their details.

Indeed not.
I\'ve now applied it, so they have all been listed as Serbians. However, the correct nationality is in the menu so they may easily correct the problem.
