I\'m crunching on a laptop with 512Meg. I noticed that my model had stopped with the message on the Tasks line \"waiting for memory\". Never seen this before. At the time, I was running no other apps and with no other BOINC applications either. Rebooting made no difference. I was able to kick start it again only by going to Advanced > Preferences and upping the standard \"Use at most % when computer is in use\" from 50 to 60. Curious. I\'m running hadsm3fub_0516_005904307_8 using hadsm3 version 506 with BOINC Manager 5.10.28

[EDIT] At the time of the message, the \"Show Graphics\" button was also greyed out.

One of the \"improvements\" in BOINC 5.8.* (and later), is the ability to limit the amount of memory, both when \"idle\", and \"in use\".
These 2 options are in your server prefs, and probably also in the override prefs on your computer if you have this file.

Another \"improvement\", is that if an application needs more memory than is available, BOINC won\'t run the work unit, but sit there waiting for more memory to become available.

The slab model doesn\'t use much memory compared to the others (around 50Meg I think?), so it\'s odd that the waiting for memory should appear. I\'ve got mine set to 80/90%, but have 5.10.21 rather than .28.

I'm a volunteer and my views are my own.

Thanks Strathpeffer. It\'s running fine now that I\'ve put the 50% memory limit up to 60 in Preferences. I only logged it here because I presume it\'s something that must have come in with the more recent versions of CPDN or BOINC; I\'ve never seen it before, not heard of it. So crunching continues.
