My old CPDN client did go ahead and finish its run, after which I installed BOINC (which is still an experiment for me). Now BOINC starts up and runs the model just fine, however, whenever I start my computer the old CPDN client tries to run and gives me this error: There was an error connecting to the registration server. The server may be down, or your proxy settings may need adjusting. Please try again later. This error box has only one button, \"OK\", and when I click on it, it just pops right back up again. Always. I can\'t access any of the old CPDN client menus because this popup is always on top. I can right-click on the CPDN world logo on my taskbar and close it, but it reopens not too long later and does more of the same shtuff. My question is, how do I just stop it from autorunning whenever I start my computer? Never mind the error, it\'s not like I need the old client to work now that BOINC works. Oh yeah, and I have a couple random questions about BOINC. When I look at the BOINC visualization, is there any way to zoom into the planet closer, because I\'ve noticed that the US is now divided into states (whereas it wasn\'t before) and I\'d like to get a closer look. Also, I think that the progress bar under \"work\" show the progress for the entire experiment, and not just the phase, am I right? Because if I\'m wrong, then my experiment is going ridiculously slow... |

It sounds like your old client was installed as a service and the service is still running. Go to the windows service control panel and disable the CPDN service. If you chose the show graphics option you can do alot of things to the graphics. I think ctrl-mouse will let you drag the zoom. The screensaver will use whatever settings you had last, but will not remember them the next time you run the client.
John Keck -- BOINCing since 2002/12/08 -- |

*Slaps himself on forehead* Of course, I forgot that I installed CPDN as a service. Service stopped. I am happy. You were right, Ctrl+mouse zooms the picture. Now I can examine the United States closely, thank you. What about my last question, though? Am I right that the progress bar shows progress for the entire experiment, and not just that one phase? |
