Folding@home is currently running as a multiplatform computing system With the PS3 as a important part of the calculation force as I understand Is there any possibility to include the PS3 in a similar client. Best Regards from Denmark |

The CPDN climate model is the longest and most complicated of any of the BOINC projects and the source code from which the application is compiled is immense. Though there are many PS3 machines that could potentially be exploited, much of the power of gaming devices is in specialist graphics chips, which provide no advantage in general-purpose computing. So I think the answer to your question is no. :-( |

To make usage of the full perfomance of the PS3, the source must complete rewritten and adapted to the PS3. - This is a lot of work. In the moment the BOINC projects PS3Grid, SETI and yoyo supports the PS3 with all SPEs (full perfomance of the PS3). SIMAP and Einstein has applications which use the PPE (=the main CPU) of the PS3. The PPE applications perfoms comparable with a G4 or G5 Mac. |
