Just curious if any Beta work is currently being run, and how one signs up for such. Thanks!

Thanks for the information!

I have worked on beta work on other BOINC projects, but am brand new to CPDN. I am wondering if I should wait to get some experience with the main project before I do some beta work, although the beta work does look very interesting and useful.....

Of course I don\'t know how extensively you\'ve done beta work on other projects, but here at CPDN you really have to work intensively together with the developers, not be afraid to run one model quickly on your computer, abort it when needed etc.

The models that are run there are being tested with new science applications, mainly to see if the information they return is the same as those done on the normal project here. So anything you think is out of order needs to be reported to the forums.

No prior experience with CPDN is needed, just read the forums and follow the lead of the others. And ask if you don\'t understand something, but that goes without saying. ;-)

Jord,
Thanks! I do like keeping involved with the projects I work on, it keeps me more motivated! So I will join the beta group, thank you very much for the nice warm welcome! :)

if you look on your account page, in the cpdn preferences section, you\'ll see there are 3 applications. to see how a production task runs normally you could try running a Slab (hadsm) model only, these are a bit smaller and you might be able to knock it out in 3wks or so depending on your engine size. that might help give a feel when comparing with any test jobs. just a thought... :)

Thanks, I am actually working on a HADAM3 model right now, with a brand new Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 processor, which is eating it up! ;) When that finishes, I will convert that machine over to beta, and it should hopefully turnaround results relatively quickly as those things go! :)
