I recently reached 50% on a hadcm3 model, and just noticed that the server state is \'over\'. Does this mean that the model is considered successfully crunched from my side, and I don\'t have to continue to 100%? I\'m considering abandoning it if that is the case, as it\'s too big a bite for my laptop and I want to crunch for other projects. Will the other half be sent to another participant if I cancel it now?

The WU is this one.

Regards,
Kenneth

No, it\'s not finished. Sometimes the server state starts displaying \"Over\" for unknown reasons.

It\'s unlikely that that particular model will be resent, as it\'s already been sent 5 times.

If it\'s too much for you, then just dump it. But it IS possible to select shorter models, from an option in the Climate prefs on your account page.

Sure, I don\'t mind running a hadsm model from time to time, but back when I got this model I couldn\'t choose. Anyway, I\'ll keep the long model suspended and see if I can finish it some day, though it\'ll likely be well into the future.

Hi Kenneth

I see from your list of computers that you seem to have crunched CPDN in the past on at least one other computer. Would you want to transfer this really long HADCM model to a different more suitable computer? If so, we can explain how to do this (it isn\'t complicated).

Hi Mo.v,

thanks for the help, but this isn\'t really practical in my case. My two fast computers are located in my parents home some 3500 km\'s from here, so I\'d have to set up and transfer everything over ssh, which is a bit bothersome. I\'ll keep it in mind, though, as my 64bit machine should be able to complete the model relatively fast.

I just wanted to bring this post back up with the latest happenings: About a month ago the model state went to \"client detached\" for no apparent reason. It\'s still running on my computer, and is at 75% now; I intend to finish it within a month and a half.
Why does Boinc think it is detached? Is this also normal? It just passed the deadline too, but as I\'ve already read elsewhere this doesn\'t really matter.

Oh well, I should finish it soon, hopefully it doesn\'t get resent in the meantime.

I did it! Finally the model finished successfully, after more than 4000 hours of crunching on an old laptop!

Congratulations Kenneth! That was a long haul, but it\'s satisfying when successfully completing these lengthy models.

Welcome back to the forum, Kenneth, and congratulations!

I do envy you living in Granada though not in Summer.

Thanks to you both!
Actually, I no longer live in Granada, but in Malaga, some 1,5 hours from there. And I have to admit, eventhough I have the beach and the Mediterranean here, I still miss living in Granada!

Now back to crunching... ;-)
