By the way -- off topic response here -- looks like the stats updates didn\'t get exported to the external databases again -- perhaps that is a script that needs some fixing.

Is related to the graph on the \"Task details\" page not being updated as well? I\'m crunching 2047, and the graph is still showing 2041.

Trickles and credits are ok..

Yes, it\'s related. The graphs are updated from Trickle data.

Trickles are being received by the Server, as indicated in the Messages tag and in \"Your account\" computer contact list. It\'ll all be sorted out eventually.

I agree with what Mo.V said in the News thread.... There\'s no need for the constant updates about the credit job not running.

Why not just put a \"Credit Granted Job last run on: 01-Aug-2008\" on the server status page? It would be both helpful for the users AND the moderators to make sure the job finishes correctly!

That\'s a great idea, but it would be even more useful to monitor the several steps independently - currently:

Credit Granted Job last ran 06-Aug-2008
Stats Export Job last ran 01-Aug-2008

Yes, I saw the post there -- I\'m sure Milo will get it fixed when he has the time -- not that big a deal -- I know the credits will show up -- and the the trickels are showing up on the Climate site.

For members of the Beta2 project it\'s a miracle that the credits earned there ever arrive at the stats sites. Credits have to be given by the Beta server to members\' accounts, then transferred and added to CPDN accounts, then exported to the stats sites.

Have the XML updates fallen over again? I seem to recall the new file name requirements being an issue earlier in August.

Yes, there was no credit export over the weekend. Today (Monday) is a holiday in the UK, so it is unlikely to be exported until Tuesday (which means that it\'ll be visible on the external stats sites on Wednesday).

Ah -- I was wondering about that. I\'ll not whine until Wednesday evening then <smile>.

It\'s always nice to see a huge amount of credits suddenly being applied. <smile>

It looks like last night, in sympathy for the database not getting exported to the other sites, the trickles didn\'t post locally. I didn\'t see any announcment of that, but sometimes these sorts of reports require user reporters -- sort of like information exchange in the blogosphere.

While I tend to view the whole \"credits\" thing as a necessary evil, though an important incentive to participate in BOINC projects... I\'m curious why credit exports don\'t happen on holidays? Is it a manual operation? I would have expected all that to be automated. Or perhaps the server that usually does it flew to Bermuda to catch some rays over the 3 day weekend? :-0

Actually it seems there are perhaps two problems. The non-export problem happened first. The second problem has to do with posting the trickles to the internal database. Perhaps both of these will be resolved by Wednesday, hope, hope. In any event, perhaps some information update should be posted suggesting that the admin folks are alerted to the problem?

I informed the project people at Tue Aug 26, 2008 12:23 am, (Open University time, which is out an hour or 2 from GMT).

Those people looking at the server status page at that time would have seen that ALL of the upload servers were off line.
It turns out that only climateaps2 was down, because the HDs had filled up, thus stopping the server status progs, trickle updates, and export files from running.
BOINCstats has updated, so it seems that things are back again.

And I\'ll shortly be splitting the top half of this thread from the original posts, because it\'s gotten way off topic.

Maybe. But perhaps it is also a good time to reflect upon what we are doing here in the first place: Devoting our processor cycles and extra watts to this worthy project. It\'s so very easy to get distracted by credits. But they are, at best, only a rough estimate as to what we may be contributing to the data pool.

I quite understand the concern you are voicing. (Actually, I should say that I *think* I understand. Saying \"I understand\" can come off as a bit condescending.) I even agree. Expressing concern for how the SETI guys should be more communicative and sensitive to credit reporting issues, during time of crisis, in order to not to piss off more the more \"credit-sensitive\" users, more or less got me ousted from the SETI message board. (Ouch!)

But all\'s well that ends well. :-)

Take Care,
Steve

I\'ve moved some posts about the thread name, from 2 other threads, to this new thread, as they were off topic \'back there\'.

edit
All of the moved posts were added here UNDER this original post. (Sorted on Newest first.)
The first group are from Work Unit length- I am dumbfounded
The second group are from No production, but going up the ranks?
