Hi, I was wondering which version of Windows 7 I should install for climateprediciton.net to work best on the BOINC client. I can install either, I have both downloaded and everything, and have even ran both of them. Thank you, I appreciate your concern. Also, another question, which is best for running this? Ubuntu (latest version), Mac OS X (Leopard), or Windows (7)? |

Hi, Shelby. As far as I know, there is no difference between 32-bit and 64-bit Windows in performance. The science application is the same 32-bit application in either case, and will run on both platforms. As for operating system dependencies, the answer is - it depends. Some models run faster on one operating system than another; then a new version of the model appears - or a new type of model - and the situation is reversed. I would choose the operating system based on what is most familiar to you for the machine's other uses, and then try each model type to see which one works best. (HADAM3P on Mac is rather slow, I believe - at the moment.) Iain |
