A important faktor is the cache memory size of the Prozessor. It´s for the all Duron the same (256kb). Perhaps the quality of the normal mainboard RAM (Kingston 256 MB CL2)? The quality of the mainboard? But I´ve got a cheap ECS L7S7A2. Also i think it´s not so much difference between 5.1 and 5.0 s/TS. |

About the benchmarks... I ran them 5 times over a few hours period on my laptop. The first time I ran them they were really high (2190 float point, 4400 integer) for a p4 3Ghz laptop, .5GB ram, XP Pro, the next time about half (1400 fp, 2800 i), next (1100 fp, 2600 i), next about normal (1050 fp, 2500 i), and this is where they stayed. The first was run on a cold (literally) computer. The only difference between one and the next was time and temperature. Seems a little odd to vary by such a huge amount. Makes you wonder about the accuracy of the benchmark. Andrew |

As metal heats, it's electrical resistance rises. The hotter your system gets, the slower it will be. |

As an example, my 3.2Ghz HT starts comsuming about 75 watts more power when the Boinc client kicks in from idle. That translates into alot of heat; a good cooling system and keeping it clean are essential. As noted before, heat slows the CPU down. The Final Front Ear |

Mine's gone from 2.08 to 2.09 through time. Do you have "Cool and Quiet" enabled or some kind of thermal throttling option in the BIOS? Is the PC now doing something else in background that it wasn't before? |

Absolutely true in AMD case! Heat will slow your CPU down, regardless of the brand. It has to! I have an Athlon XP 2200+ with 1 gig of DDR Ram. I am currently getting 5.47 s/TS. It has been steadily going up since I started crunching this WU. When I started it I was around 3 s/TS. I hope this is normal. |

I'm running an Athlon XP 3200+ with 1 gig of DDR400. I've had 7 trickles so far that are averaging 2.21 s/TS since I started 49 hours ago. I've never run cp before. Is this a decent speed? |
