I`m using the System normally for my E-Mail and Office. A important faktor is the cache memory size of the Prozessor. It´s for the all Duron the same (256kb). Perhaps the quality of the normal mainboard RAM (Kingston 256 MB CL2)? The quality of the mainboard? But I´ve got a cheap ECS L7S7A2.

Also i think it´s not so much difference between 5.1 and 5.0 s/TS.

The motherboard is important for the performance.... but i think it's also a prob that the client semms to be intl optimized

About the benchmarks...

I ran them 5 times over a few hours period on my laptop. The first time I ran them they were really high (2190 float point, 4400 integer) for a p4 3Ghz laptop, .5GB ram, XP Pro, the next time about half (1400 fp, 2800 i), next (1100 fp, 2600 i), next about normal (1050 fp, 2500 i), and this is where they stayed. The first was run on a cold (literally) computer. The only difference between one and the next was time and temperature. Seems a little odd to vary by such a huge amount. Makes you wonder about the accuracy of the benchmark.

If the temperature of the p4 gets too high (~70°C) "thermal throttling" is activated, which means that the processor gets slower.

in this article it was tested: http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/p4-throttling/

the only thing that would help is better cooling.

Hmm... my PC is getting very hot while running CPDN. Perhaps that's the reason for my performance lag

Heat will always adversely affect performance. As metal heats, it's electrical resistance rises. The hotter your system gets, the slower it will be.

As an example, my 3.2Ghz HT starts comsuming about 75 watts more power when the Boinc client kicks in from idle. That translates into alot of heat; a good cooling system and keeping it clean are essential. As noted before, heat slows the CPU down.

As the projects runs is it normal for it to take longer for each s/TS?

A little bit on mine, but nothing like that. Mine's gone from 2.08 to 2.09 through time.

Do you have "Cool and Quiet" enabled or some kind of thermal throttling option in the BIOS? Is the PC now doing something else in background that it wasn't before?

Temps haven't changed, cleaned fans just to make sure, nothing else running on computer. This computer has run Folding@home, FightingAids@home, and SETI without a problem, I was wondering if maybe there's a memory leak?

Absolutely true in AMD case! Heat will slow your CPU down, regardless of the brand. It has to! You can't argue with physics.

I have an Athlon XP 2200+ with 1 gig of DDR Ram. I am currently getting 5.47 s/TS. It has been steadily going up since I started crunching this WU. When I started it I was around 3 s/TS. I hope this is normal.

I'm running an Athlon XP 3200+ with 1 gig of DDR400. I've had 7 trickles so far that are averaging 2.21 s/TS since I started 49 hours ago. I've never run cp before. Is this a decent speed?
