Hi, Everyone: Does anyone know what’s going on with the model availability? My Hadam3p model has only 11 hours left and I’m getting “Message from server: No work available for the applications you have selected.†I checked server status page and it shows only Hadsm3’s are presently available. I prefer to run the Hadam3p’s. Does anyone know how long they will be unavailable? If they will be available in a few days I will run other projects in the meantime. |

During the last day or two there\'s been a new publicity push for the Progress Thru Processors application which is sponsored by Intel for Facebook members and provides a really easy way for people who know nothing about distributed computing to get started by joining the GridRepublic Boinc Manager. CPDN is one of PTP\'s three lead projects. When it was first launched in August the models available were HadAM3Ps which many PTP people seem to have been incapable of running properly. I bet many of them haven\'t got enough memory. The idea of HadSM is to get the new wave of people off to a good start because these models can run on almost anything. However, this is no long-term solution unless all new members, or PTP members, have HadSM preselected when they join. It would be easy to help these people if they post but I haven\'t seen a single registration on the independent forum that seems to belong to any of them (and there are thousands), nor any posting names on this forum that look like Facebook names. And hardly anyone is asking relevant questions on the Facebook Wall. Anyone with a Facebook account is more than welcome to help out there. We\'re expecting some new models in maybe two or three weeks. Cpdn news |

well, for the last couple months, the only thing i could get was am3p models, which i set to run in high priority and finish the models just sigh of 4 days on my q6600 2.4 ghz machine.. it\'s the only one i let run cpdn as the others would take forever as the other pc\'s predate 2005. 2 p4\'s, 1 hyperthreaded, and a P-M. i\'ll be happy to get some of the sm models. |

I was mistaken in saying that new models will be available in two or three weeks. There are, as far as I know, two new types in preparation but it will take longer than that to have them ready for the public project. I know that for a long time we had only HadSM but times have changed. We\'ll be keeping an eye on the situation. It depends more than anything on what\'s currently needed for the researchers. I for one am very interested in the new model types that are in preparation. Any idea when they might be released? Would one of these be the long awaited Millennium model? I realize that running a 1000 year model on my electronic snails might take almost that long to finish, but, I would still like to give it a try. |

The first new models to come out will either be similar to the Seasonal Attribution models, (for Pacific North West, and/or Southern Africa), or a sulphur cycle model, which is the one currently in beta. (A new version was released on the 25th with the latest bug fixes.) As to WHEN it will be released on this site, the best that can be said is \"When the testing results in a stable, accurate model.\" You can read about the Millennium model in the Experiments section at the front of this site, where the measures to reduce the time needed are explained. Also being considered, is a move to using \"plan class\" to more tightly filter the types of computer that will be issued with various models in future. So those with below minimum ram/speed/SSE levels etc, can be blocked. |

Does this mean that Coupled models are now a thing of the past? Warped |

Carl\'s been working on a new coupled model. I hope there will be some way of ensuring that Facebook newbies only get it if they choose it and their computer\'s suitable. Cpdn news |

I noticed that there are 116,350 results ready to send, but there are only 91,528 HadSM3 models available. Do the remaining 24,822 models need to be crunched? I believe they are HadAM3P if the graph on the status page is correct. Also, just a thought.... is there a way for the BOINC scheduler/server to know if the client connecting is a BOINC user or PTP user? |

I don\'t think CPDN needs more HadAM3P at the moment. That could change. PTP members also use Boinc though many may not have noticed. If they haven\'t changed their default personal details they can be distinguished by their email address ending. The programmers have access to the membership database and can see this (the mods can\'t). I\'d be surprised if the server looks at email addresses when allocating models so the answer\'s probably no. The problem of unsuitable computers eg memorywise has always been there so I\'m hoping that when more demanding models become available the server will be able to select which computers they go to. I think this is the idea behind the plan class - to select computers for models not by how their users joined but by what the computer can do. I have no news about it at the moment. Cpdn news |

Now that all the servers are up and running again I see that only the 3 phase Hadsm3 “slab†models are presently available for download. Is this something related the server problem? Will the Hadsm3mh and Hadam3p WU’s be back soon? Any new types of models (the long awaited Millennium model by any chance) in the near future? |

Still problems with the new 3p\'s in testing. Soon. Millennium hasn\'t even started testing yet, so a long way off. |
