Hi, Everyone: I was just wondering. Now that the AM3P WU’s are back does this mean the return of the ridiculously inflated RAC’s or have they fixed that problem? |

Unfortunately not - these are part of the same batch as before that have been turned on again to finish them off. I don\'t expect there to be any more of this particular type (though there may well be other versions of HadAM3P) once this lot have finished. |

Hi, Everyone: I see that the “results ready to send†counter for the Hadam3p’s is again at 0. Does anyone know whether the this permanent or if there will be a new batch soon? |

I think that these models are now \"on demand\"; i.e. when the climate physicists need/want them. |

Since you\'ve re-activated an old thread, where the question (and official project answer) were about \"ridiculously inflated RAC\", it might be worth pointing out that Milo has corrected the AMP3 RAC issue since then and it should now be the same as other models - just in case people (like me) who haven\'t had enough coffee this morning don\'t notice the November 2009 date at first reading! |

I think that these models are now \"on demand\"; i.e. when the climate physicists need/want them. That\'s right. I understand that the physicists looking at these are satisfied for the moment, but if they decide that they need any more we will activate them again. |

I returned a little late for them, but had one completed. Ran fast, only three days to finish. Hope that they need more of them soon. Back to running the slab models again. Keep on crunching Pizza@Home |

I hope the Slab Models won\'t be the only available type for long. One of my computers isn\'t able to display the graphics (lacks OpenGL support). Which means for SM tasks I have to repeatedly check the last trickles to detect if it\'s a possible \"iceworld\" (unfortunately I haven\'t found a better solution yet). With the HADAM3P this was not necessary :) |

The next new model type to be released will probably be FAMOUS for the Millennium experiment. It\'s still throwing up errors in beta testing but Tolu\'s working very hard indeed to get it to run properly and Hiro, whose experiment it is, is helping. It\'s very different from other model types. When it\'s released there may be a choice of model length. Cpdn news |

It\'s very different from other model types. When it\'s released there may be a choice of model length. That would be good if we can choose model length. Interesting article here about the experiment - http://climateprediction.net/content/millennium-experiment-famous saying that the full 1200 years can take about same CPU time as 160 year CM3 models - e.g. a 200 year segment may be equivalent to a mid-hol (about 18 cpu days with my stock Q6600)? My bet is April for release. Bring them on! :) |

I\'ve already been following the beta forums for a few months. I hope they\'ll be able to track the remaining errors down. Variable model length isn\'t really an issue for me but it will probably make a lot of people happy ;) |

Is the new Millenium model multithreaded? The old HadCM3 took three months. It would be nice if a quad core could do the same in three weeks. |

Is the new Millenium model multithreaded? The old HadCM3 took three months. It would be nice if a quad core could do the same in three weeks. It\'s been worked on, but I don\'t think the initial release will have that capability. At least it\'s not in the beta testing we are doing. It\'s interesting though that running 4 on a quad is about as fast as running 1, i.e. there is very little degradation in speed in running multiple FAMOUS models. This is unlike hadcm3, and very unlike hadam3/hadam3p. |

I hope the Slab Models won\'t be the only available type for long. For what it\'s worth, my friend records the \'% completed,\' from the boinc Manager, daily, in a spiral notebook. That makes a blue world easy to spot. If you can see the Manager, it might work for you. (She doesn\'t spend much time with it -- and she runs two Quads exclusively for CPDN.) Re. FAMOUS\' run times: My Q6600s, in Vista_x64 and W7_x64, have estimates for 200-year Runs of 125-128 hours. Q9550 in Vista_x64, ~98 hours, ~99 hours in XP_x64. All machines running at stock speed. I would definitely like a model type were I could control the length. The 1200 year Millennium model intrigues me no end, but, I am not sure that I would like to try running 2 of them together on the same machine at once. I also don’t think that my slower machine would be suitable for one of those. On that machine (Core2Duo 1.5 GHz with 2 GBs of RAM) it could take 9 months to a year to finish. That is a very long haul. I’ve done it a couple of times with CMs, but, it is a strain. The 200 year segments should be fine. I have run several MH models to completion on this machine so a model that takes about the same time should finish in 21 to 30 days. |

The graphics are rather hypnotic. In the Wall Map view, the weather just races across the screen. My 2 quads are running 4 at a time with no problems. Trickles every 40 minutes, zips every 7+ hours. All of which could change several times before release. Backups: Here |

Maybe I\'ll write a small app that does that for me, so that I can just have a look at the daily records from time to time. |

Spotted a few new AM3P\'s a short time ago. Got a batch of 4 but 3 failed due to one file not being found on the server. Example of message - \"Giving up on download of hadam3p_mmk2_1966_2_006131068.zip\" Started the only one which downloaded successfully. It\'s running ok. |

Spotted a few new AM3P\'s a short time ago. Got a batch of 4 but 3 failed due to one file not being found on the server. I\'ve re-activated some of the ones for which we haven\'t had enough data returned, and depending on how it goes I may do some more later. Thanks for the file info. I will investigate. |
