What the #%*&*# is going on? After also getting the “sever has no work†message I finally got it to download a new model, but, it is not the type specified in my preferences. It sent me an slab model. My “preferences†are set for AM3Ps. That is the only type of WU that is presently checked. I have completed several of them in the past so there is no reason for the server to hold them back from my machine. A check of the “sever status†shows 18,241 AM3Ps waiting to be sent. What gives??? |

If memory serves -- and it might not (conflation, substitution ) -- Some BOINC sites show a local (like \"CPDN preferences\") option called \" If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications? \" I thought I had seen this one on CPDN, sometime, but not now. If it is set by user or by default server-side, after a (configurable?) number of failures to download preferred wu types, the server will provide a wu of its choice. Not a BOINC server or configuration guru, sorry. But with the primary problem apparently fixed, I\'d guess this is unlikley to happen again, or not often. HTH Eric |

The server is still overriding preferences and sending out whatever WU it wants. Despite the fact that my preferences are set for HadAM3Ps it sent me another HadSM3. I have checked my “preferences†and AM3Ps are the only one checked. What gives? Is there any way to stop this and get the type of WU that I want? |

I have universal preferences set for hadsm3 only, and am only getting hadsm3\'s. I have a separate \"Home\" preferences set for one PC for hadam3p\'s. That PC is only downloading hadam3p\'s. Is anyone else seeing what Jim is seeing? |

Hi, Les: The preferences that I am talking about are the ones that are reached by clicking on “Your Account†on the manager page, then clicking “Your Account†again in the blue area on the first \"account\" page. I then click on “Resource Share and Graphics.†I do not set separate preferences for home, office and school as my computer never leaves my house. I recently upgraded to Windows 7 final version. These model downloads are the first since I upgraded to Windows7 final version. Could it have anything to do with that? |

Which models the server sends us should never depend on our operating system and I don\'t see how it could. So I don\'t think your Windows 7 upgrade is connected. Milo did say there was an intermittent server problem so this will have been the cause. Cpdn news |
