Message 43030 - Posted: 27 Sep 2011, 1:37:55 UTC - in response to Message 43027.

Ok, installed boinc 6.12.35, ran permission repair, re-installed 6.12.35, added myself to manager and project using sudo dscl . -merge /groups/boinc_manager ... boinc_project users

This allowed me to run the application Boinc Manager.app.

I reset climateprediction.net

Message 43037 - Posted: 27 Sep 2011, 7:48:47 UTC

I've been told my computer is crashing the models.

http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/show_host_detail.php?hostid=1150440

The mail I got says specifically:
Your computer (host # 1150440) described below appears to have a misconfigured BOINC
installation and is crashing models

The BOINC installation was a direct install from the script. If it was misconfigured, it was misconfigured from the get go.

I have installed a newer version of BOINC.

I just found this message buried in my inbox two weeks ago. I haven't changed anything since I set it all up months ago, so I'm not sure what changed. SETI still works fine...

Mike

It's possible that you've been crashing models right from the start. Look at your list of models!

I'm not running Fedora, Redhat, Debian, or Ubuntu. Where are these libs in a tar.gz format?

Updated to 6.12.35 (x86)

Cannot Remove my project as that option is greyed out for all projects.

William

It sounds like you used an alternative Account Manager to attach to the projects.
In which case, you need to use that same Account Manager to detach/Remove as well as for Reattaching.

The names of the libs vary from distro to distro. Search your distro's repositories or ask in your distro's forums if they one.

Observing, from links attached to this thread, that Mac OS X issues typically relate to faulty permissions and imperfect version upgrades to BOINC or CPDN -->

I have . . .
? Detatched all projects
? Uninstall BOINC (6.12.35)
? reboot & system maintenace
? Install BOINC (6.12.35)
? Attach projects
? permissions repair & defrag & reboot
? restart BOINC

I cannot think of anything else to do to this computer that may effect these issues, so believe that it is reasonable to resume work at this point.

Halp!!!

http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/show_host_detail.php?hostid=1101528

For what it's worth, I have also had BOINC lock up trying to connect to the Projects, and when that happens I have to kill off the BOINC master since it won't go away when I quit BOINC. I restart BOINC, and it seems to be working.

I've updated, reset, detached and added the project back which appears to the suggestions I read below for other Mac clients. Do you agree?

Hello,

Got the "misconfigured" message for:

http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/show_host_detail.php?hostid=1045177

I followed the instructions in the Mac sticky message. Could you turn this guy back on? Thanks!
