Thanks George. I updated Boinc to the latest. Let me know if it's still a problem.

Notified Andy, so perhaps that computer will be able to fetch work later this week or early next. He must be really busy as haven't heard much from him this week.

After reviewing parts of this forum, I adjusted my anti-virus scanner to except the program and data directories used for BOINC. The system should be ready to receive a now model to see if that corrects the problem.

It looks like this PC of yours is also having the same problem.

After excluding the boinc data folder from malware/virus scanning (scheduled and on-access), you may want to do a project reset on each PC so that any files that may be corrupt in the cpdn folder are flushed out and can be redownloaded. Of course that's if you feel comfortable excluding that folder from scanning.

We haven't heard back. Andy usually does them in bunches. Not sure when the next bunch will be done.

I have forgot and left my computer running several hours without supervision.
GPU create so much heat and computer got over heated.
At this moment I have left side panel open to improve cooling. Still working on how to efficiently remove heat from case - small one and in very tight place.
Any help appreciated.
Very sorry for my English.

Atip,

It is difficult to say what is the problem. But the description of the situation doesn't sound good. That is a very powerful PC. Both the CPU and video card are power hungry and output a lot of heat. You may need a bigger case, and no matter what, very good airflow through the case, without the case being in a tight enclosure. Running distributed computing with stability requires keeping the system well ventilated.

Also, the boinc benchmarks on your computer webpage are ridiculously high. Is the CPU being overclocked? If so, it definitely needs to be throttled down.

Looking at the stderr output on the crashed tasks from your PC, most of them have this line "too many exit(0)s". I'm not sure why that is the case, as there is not much else in stderr to help explain it.

Could we try to send some work on my computer and see how it goes?
At this moment my PC is well ventilated and no chance to get over heated. I'm running projects that use CPU and GPU and I have no any problem with it.
I did run climateprediction in past and I thing was no problem till this time.
I'm unable to check my previous work, only I can check just recent work and I see is crushing.
I believe is due to overheating, as I sad I have forgot that the GPU will create so much heat and CPU will get overheated.
Many thanks for support.

Atip, could you first please find your computer's antivirus and firewall exclusion lists and add BOINC to them. Something was causing every model to exit 100 times before they had even started; after 100 exits every BOINC task automatically aborts. I think it's possible that the cause was your firewall or AV.

If you need to navigate to where the two BOINC folders are to add them to the exclusion list, you'll find where they are here:

http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/index.php?language=1&view=592&sessionID=107adb263ce3c21df6a8b7c009c3bc52

The models are inside the BOINC DATA directory. I would exclude that first as you may not need to exclude the other BOINC directory.

Try the AV exclusion list first before you try the firewall.

Some AVs are much more aggressive than others with regard to BOINC and its projects.

I'm using Kaspersky Lab internet security 2013. I'll have look.
It's shows BOINC is trusted.

I think I did not have this problem in past.
Few month ago I did run BOINC and was no any problem case (open), then I have stopped, and just recently run again BOINC and I have forgot my PC will get overheated (case closed).
At this moment it's OK, will not overheat (case is open).
I'm still working out how to efficiently remove heat from case created by my GPU while case is close and cooling fans stays quite.

I have no experience with over-powered graphics cards, so I'm grasping at straws; your credit-history suggests driving that card is your main pursuit.

Your tasks all die on startup with error (0). That doesn't wave a red flag at me but I suspect there is some relationship to the configuration of your powerful machine. I assume you have a bucket-full of RAM to support the CPU and have your Preferences set to leave tasks in memory when suspended. If not, that's a problem. It could be that CPDN has too little priority assigned to it in your mix of projects, gets interrupted at inopportune times, and turns belly-up when starved for CPU cycles vs. time. (Like I said, I'm grasping at straws.)

P.S. -- What about geophi's question re. overclock?

At this moment my CPU run safely at 3.7GHz and temperature is 75 degree Celsius at max load for long run. (was set 4.3GHz and 85 degree Celsius with fun running 2200rpm - a bit noisy - that why I have throttled down).
GPU run as standard set, and get 75 degree Celsius on GPUGRID project, takes 6h30min to finish.
Ram is 16GB at 2400MHz as standard, has been tested for errors - 0 (zero).
Ram gets up to 8-11GB max, still 5GB left.
I'm having trouble with this project only, since I have started to do so.
Could be priority?
Shell I reinstall BOINC again? It's latest ver. now.
I have try to remove this project and add again, I did not delete any data from HDD.

I have installed TeamViewer, if you wish you can remote my computer and have a look live. I can give you access, also we can talk via Skype.
Many thanks for your help.

Message 49212 - Posted: 25 May 2014, 2:10:00 UTC - in response to Message 49208.

The programs that compute the models here are mostly floating point FORTRAN, and make intensive use of the FPU of the cpu.
"Climate" is basically just "weather" over long periods of time, and weather is what is know as a "chaotic" system, where what happens next can't be accurately predicted.
The more a computer is over clocked, the more likely it is that some of the calculations will be incorrect. This doesn't matter for games, or even most of the tasks from other projects, which don't use FORTRAN.

We recommend that computers used here or NOT over clocked.
