My BOINC was not doing anything, and at first I thought this was all student admins on spring break at the beach, but I noticed a message about lack of disk space, and found I was maxed out under the limit. I added some more headroom, and got some work units. It seems Climate Prediction has grown to 30 GB of disk. Is this normal, and not a disk allocation leak? |

No. NOT normal. It should only be a Gig or 2, depending on how many models are run simultaneously. If you turn on the Recording function for the graphics, this will create a lot of data files quickly. (In the tmp folder of the model.) Also, the folders for \'old\' models don\'t always get automatically removed. A quick look shows that you\'ve had a few fail, and you\'ve aborted some, so these may still be there. The only folders with model names, should be ones that are shown in your Tasks tab. All others can be deleted. Backups: Here |

ClimatePrediction WU’s are large, but not that large. On my machine 2 running and 2 “waiting to start†WU’s take up about 1.5 GB’s. You may have accidently turn on the “record animation to disc†feature in the manager. If left on for a long time it will eat up a ton of disc space because it generates a .png picture file of the screen for each time step. To turn this off: Click “show graphic†then press “H†to bring up menu. Press the right facing arrow to get second screen. While holding down the “ctrl†key press “Qâ€Â. This should turn OFF the record feature. |
