I have one model running that started in the year 599. The temperature has just been climbing from the start. The global mean is now up to 25 C. Could we have any ice caps left with this one? LINK to hot model. As long as it dues not melt the cpu it can run. Maybe it is from the hotter than normal weather we are having this year. Where I live (Connecticut, USA) from Jan. to June we had the hottest half year ever recorded, and the predictions are for summer weather up to November. No the current weather will not effect how a model runs, only melt our CPU's. |

Ray, These s2** series FAMOUS models are not the same as the earlier ones, and the 599 start date is arbitrary. These models have varying C02 levels in order to work out climate sensitivity. Some of them get very hot. Iain PS My brother is a farmer in western Massachusetts - he's had a bad dose of what you're having in Connecticut. |

Western Massachusetts and Connecticut have about the same weather. But the Berkshires have colder winters than I get. My sons are both in North Carolina and they have only been about 1 degree F. warmer than here this year. Here you have almost been able to swim every place with all the moisture in the air. We are having the same kind of summer here in the New York City Metropolitan area. It was 94 degrees again today, with the same predicted for all week. That's 7 to 10 degrees above normal. Its has also been unusually dry this year. April, May, and July have all been well below normal on rainfall. Unirrigated lawns started going brown in early June! Most years that doesn’t happen until late July or early August. |

We are a little better on the rain than you are but still short for June and July. Lawns were brown but greening up again after getting two days with some rain so far this July. I am lucky with the garden as there is an underground stream below it. The stream is far down for all the water it needs but allows it to stay damp longer after rain or watering. You sure had a hot day when Queen Elizabeth visited your city. Keep on crunching Pizza@Home |
