Having only 2 completed from the last 26 FAMOUS tasks, that is disappointing with no other options available on CPDN. Now running last 2 tasks, which are in all probability going to fail soon, and it looks as though my Mac (and others) will be redundant for CPDN. I would be interested to know if all the apparent calculation errors have been of any use to CPDN or has my computing time been wasted over the last 2 months plus. It is demoralizing, and I shall cease CPDN if no more tasks become available after these 2 tasks finish crunching. And I may look back in a few months time to see if there becomes anything useful that can be done at that time. Keith |

Hiro was going to make more FAMOUS work units available late last week, or over the weekend. They are not available for unknown reasons. My Linux PCs are running out of work as well. But, IMHO, given the difficulty Macs have with completing FAMOUS 6.11 tasks, I would stop running cpdn until such time that another model type is available for the Mac, or a new version of FAMOUS for Mac is deployed. |

Geophi Do you see text in the boxes on the graphics display for FAMOUS tasks? It was quite interesting to see progress on the other task types run on Macs. And do Windows versions of FAMOUS show the text on the graphics display? I get none, and wondered if this was the reason that the Mac version of FAMOUS was faster. I am now left with only one task between 2 CPUs, so it seems that I will be leaving CPDN very soon now. Keith |

The graphics and graphics hotkeys are different in FAMOUS from other models. % should bring up the text showing the CPU time/progress and s/TS. Whether you can see that or not on the Mac shouldn't make any difference to the speed. The high speed, and resultant stability issue, is because the Intel compiler for the Mac cannot turn off optimizations like it can in Windows and Linux. |

Thanks for reply, Geophi. Pity I can't try the % key to see if I can display the data on Mac OSX, as I have run out of tasks and am now quitting CPDN for a few months "rest". Am quite disillusioned that I am not able to do anything constructive with my Mac's time. Shall look back in a few months time to check progress of CPDN. Keith |
