We will finally be able to see (out to sea) whats headed toward the Oregon & Washington coast. UDUB Professor Cliff Mass has an ongoing page about the new construction here: http://www.atmos.washington.edu/~cliff/Langleyradar.html Now we just need to get its "input" into the weather models :) For more info contact Professor Mass at: cliff@atmos.washington.edu |

It was a long time coming and would have been a nice touch 2-5 Dec 2007 when my corner of the state was torn up by winds gusting in excess of 140 mph -- ah, but nothing ever happens here because I live in the "pie slice" where nothing happens on Seattle or Portland radars. If it isn't seen ... U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell was instrumental in securing funds for the radar. Many thanks to her. (Not all "pork" goes for "bridges to nowhere"!) The part of coastal US least covered by weather radar will soon have a copy of the best available. Thanks for bringing it up, Larry. I'm confident that the additional radar data will make a significant bump-up in Winter forecasts and prove a boon to U.Dub's models.
