Seti is 10 X faster with Cuda OpenCL, why not Climateprediction ? The simple answer is they don't have either a Cuda or OpenCL app. The climate models they are using are CPU only. The process of getting them to use Cuda or OpenCL would require a lot of development time which they don't have. I asked the same question some time back here BOINC blog |

Zarck appears to be doing a little guerilla marketing. He has posted identical comments on the Rosetta Boards. http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=5706 |

GPUs are only fast with fixed point calcs. These climate models are floating point, with 80 bits of precision. If you want GPU models, re-write the code. It's a bit less than one million lines, so it shouldn't take you long. Backups: Here |

Zarck wanted Radioactive@Home to go use CUDA/OpenCL as well on their Non-CPU Intensive programs. If the person behind Zarck would only go read the different forums first, find out if it's even possible to do what he wants, before asking/demanding this... Jord. |

Forum members have already explained that climate models cannot be processed on graphics cards, at least not yet. The CPDN programmers know what CUDA is. But there's no point in repeating that it's faster because it's impossible. Cpdn news |
