Actually Carl, the original posting on the SETI news did not credit you. Thus, it looked like the S@H team (which has clearly lots of other work to do) had spent time on the cell phone feature. That is what initially upset many people there, and once the 'ball got rolling', few seemed to see the correction on the news posting giving you credit. (another example of their poorly managed PR?).

I am a bit surprised that you were not more upset at both the intitial lack of credit for the feature as well as at the continued attacking posts even after the news update.

Well the SETI/BOINC guys have done far more for us than we have for them! And they've always given credit for the bits I do, it said "Carl Christensen did mobile phone stats etc." All I've really done to help them is the boinc_zip and mobile phone stats and help iron out the trickles etc, so I haven't done too much unfortunately. It's enough of a job just to get this climate model running on a PC! But after seeing the meanies on the SETI board screeching about how stupid it was to have mobile phone stats, I didn't really want to take the credit! ;-)

I note that there's no reference to the mobile phone stats under 'your account' here.

The problem at SETI is that the project has suffered considerable disruption recently - the BOINC implementation has not been a happy one. The ill-feeling there was not aimed at Carl, but at the way the project <b>appears</b> to be run (I stress the word 'appears' deliberately). With the amount of frustration brewing, the announcement of something as peripheral as mobile phone stats gave rise to a feeling that the project management had its eye somewhere other than on the ball.

It is a sentiment I share, and have abandoned SETI now as a result of the disruption, and also as a result of the infighting.

On a personal note, Carl, I think you may have taken offence at some of my remarks in the SETI forums. None was intended to be aimed at you.
