I'm repeatedly getting this failure message on seemingly all tasks. Here's the full log entry: Wed Dec 7 00:29:30 2011 | climateprediction.net | Task hadcm3n_ygqk_1900_40_007516680_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file Wed Dec 7 00:29:30 2011 | climateprediction.net | If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. Some get an additional line: Wed Dec 7 00:29:30 2011 | climateprediction.net | Restarting task hadcm3n_ygqk_1900_40_007516680_1 using hadcm3n version 607 I reset my project a few weeks ago due to a different unrelated failure (misconfigured BOINC, computation errors). Is the only recourse to solving this latest problem to reset the project once again? Thanks, Don |

This is a very old error, with a still unknown cause. It only happens to a few computers, and then not all of the time. And it usually disappears again on it's own. If you leave things alone, it's most likely that nothing will happen to the model. If you do a Reset, then you WILL lose the model. Whatever the cause, it's something to do with the computer in question, either hardware, software, or both, so another Reset will not help. The message is well described the same way as the Earth, in The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Mostly harmless. :) Backups: Here |

Thanks Les. BTW I'm on Mac OS 10.7.2, 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Mac Pro if it helps for tracking the problem. I'll see how it goes in the next few weeks. Don |

I sometimes get it when (like this morning) I don't get up in time to turn the router on before BOINC tries to access the Internet. It goes away once the CPDN app has successfully reported in. NG |
