Not sure if this belongs here or in number crunching. I notice that both my latest tasks come from work units that consist of only that task. Is this because they are of the regenerated variety that is based on earlier computation and only one task from the previous work unit completed or the results from others precluded generating more tasks? Idle curiosity I know. Dave |

Work units created are as required/specified by the climatologists running particular experiments. No information is available about particular cases. Backups: Here |

Thanks Les, I didn't really expect it to be possible to get an answer about these specific tasks. - A lesson for me to be clearer in what I am asking! It may still not be possible to get a firm answer but what I was wondering was whether it was likely that work units with single tasks were those that were generated from previous completed tasks where either the initial data said, "Don't carry on down this route." Or, where the other tasks in the initial work unit had failed with one error or another. Dave |

As far as I can tell from a quick check of your record and my record, HADAM3P regional work units have been issued for some time with a minimum quorum and initial replication set to one. Indeed I can't see any work unit that isn't configured that way, so there's no reason to believe they're re-submissions except in the limited sense that all HADAM3P are continuations of previous years. |
