How can I handle / avoid frequent access violation errors when running boinc client 4.05 for Windows? |

If you have overclocked your pc - just slow it down a little. If not - probably you have problems with your memory. |

I am using a standard P4 3.06 GHz (not overclocked) and the memory passed all tests of the utilities that are available to me (Sandra, CheckIt and Pitstop). More suggestions? Roland |

> More suggestions? It's clear all is not well :( It looks as though none of your attempts to run CPDN have gone much past the first trickle (there are 72 in a full model), so you are not having much success running the program. The figure for secs per timestep would also be very high for your system if you were running a single thread and not using the machine intensively for other things at the same time - it ought to be less than half the 4.5 figure you are returning. So - If you are running running BOINC twice, using HT, experiment with running one alone. Do these problems occur when you are using your computer for other tasks, especially memory intensive ones? UK_Nick has some suggestions for hardware tests in an announcement on this part of the board. I'm afraid that a sick machine is still the likely explanation at the moment. |

Hi Roland, Looking at your stats I see that both the models that trickled last week had a startup error code of -144 and an exit status of -185, which is a model startup failure condition. See this thread for details. If your solution isn't provided there would you please post details of the precise errors you're seeing. Join us here |
