After a Win 8 crash I had to restore from an Acronis back up. I then reinstalled Boinc and copied my Boinc data folder back into the Program Data folder. Boinc manager starts up OK but cannot see the 10 tasks that I was running. If I log into my account, they are still listed as running. What have I missed doing? Thanks |

Being picky for a bit, those models are listed as "In progress", not "running". That just means that they were sent to your computer and haven't finished yet. The green label will change to a red message when they time out. As for why they didn't restart, it's possible that the backup from which you restored was faulty. Was it made after Exiting from BOINC? And finally, all of your models seem to be failing. Perhaps you have a persistent problem with either hardware or the way you run the models. Backups: Here |

Yes, I agree. My other computer on Win 7 is running models fine. I had no problems with this computer running for weeks at a time with win 7, but since I went over to Win 8, I've had loads of problems. All my drivers are up-to-date, my memory tests out OK. Not ALL of my models are failing, but the Ocean ones are failing. However, those same tasks are failing on other computers too. I even began to wonder if a failing model was taking my computer down each time! I was using an old version (6.10.18) with Win 7 (Still do on my other computer), but Win 8 did not want to load that version, so I moved to 7.0.28. The backup was made after exiting. |

Although the "lost" models are shown as "In Progress" they are not actually running and probably never will run again on my computer. Is there some way I can abort them so that they get completed by someone else? Remember that they do not appear in Boinc manager, so I cannot abort them from there! |

I'm afraid that we moderators cannot abort them as we have no access to the database. Don't worry though. Eventually they will time out and will be sent to another computer. Cpdn news |

Thanks. I suspected that was the case. It's a pity though, when there are so few available at present. |
