How long does it usually take to add outstanding credits to an account?

It would be nice to have these credits as it would increase my credit total significantly.

This credit is not pending - if you look at the column next to your claimed credit it shows granted credit is the same. With CPDN credit is granted immediately based on the trickles sent by your computer. There may be a slight delay in this appearing on stats pages. I think the script is run once a day to do this. External stats pages may of course take longer to update. There have also been occasions when a server has been down when stats have not been updated for over a week but at the moment they seem to go up every day.

Edit: If you click on the pages for your computers you will see this, just realised you were looking at the pending credit page created by BOINC CPDN does not actually use pending credit.

Dave is right. I assume this situation arises because CPDN does not use the BOINC validation system, it being rather harsh to refuse to grant a user credit for perhaps several months' computing effort because a few numbers differ. CPDN does its own validation outside BOINC.

Platform differences in CPDN models are significant, so a validation scheme would very likely favour the dominant platform, which is Windows-Intel - i.e. a Windows-Intel user would be much more likely to be validated by another Windows-Intel user before a Linux/Mac/Windows-AMD user was matched by another such user. The minority platforms would hardly ever receive any credits. For projects with simpler computations it is presumably easier to define identity or equivalence tests between results that are impossible for chaotically evolving climate models.

I am still confused as there is no additional colum shown in the "pending Credit" part of the site.

I have found another thread that seems to indicate that "Pending Credits" are not used in this project.

Once again Climate Prediction has to be different!

Would it not be possible to disable the "Pending Credits" part of the "Your Account" page or at least put a note there to ignore the "Pending Credits" as they are not valid.

At the moment CPDN is using an outdated version of the BOINC server software and it needs to be upgraded. When the upgrade is carried out we will be suggesting changes and improvements to a lot of things, including the very confusing pending credits that you've discussed. The BOINC server version upgrade won't be happening for a while though because we only have two programmers who are at the moment grappling with errors in a couple of batches of models, the replacement for the independent forum that had to be taken down, a complete update of the CPDN scientific website and the development of at least one new model type. That's just the jobs that I know about.

There are a lot of plates in the air, as the project people try to juggle all of the current problems. Some of these are very fragile, and the moderators are a bit embargoed from talking about what's what.

I think that it's fair enough to say that the main effort regarding web pages is focussed on replacing the front end of the site: the Welcome page, the science description pages, the pages with links to the scientific papers, etc.

The problem with the old php board, is/was that it was under constant attack from people trying to get in for nefarious purposes. While the site admins had a lot of it under control, it was a constant fight to block the automated attacks.
And then the attackers got serious with the iframe attack, which looks like an attempt to infiltrate the entire university network. The powers-that-be there would not like that idea, which is why the entire server was taken done. With the loss of those pages that I mentioned above, plus whatever else was on it.

One of the current efforts is the descriptions of the various sub-projects that have been run over the years.
The descriptions were written at the time they were started, using both present and future tense.
This is being checked and converted into past tense, along with any grammar and spelling mistakes that were in the original.

Too much public discussion about what went wrong and what is being planned to prevent it happening again isn't a good idea, so it's best if people just wait until Christmas before opening their Christmas presents.

We are able to access some of the reference material we had on the independent forum though I haven't been able to dig out everything. Not yet anyway as searching is very timeconsuming. That forum ran for over 9 years and contains some really useful info.
