Ah. Thanks. I keep thinking Netstats, and Google keeps telling me No. Now to start forgetting again. :( |

Jonathan has been "having a look at things". Hooray! Which is the same service as "BOINC Combined Statistics" in the list of available stats sites. They haven't found the two big spiky exports of 17 March and 4 April yet. |

Any news about the credits not showing up on external sites? Mine are still locked in from when I restarted Boinc after upgrading my server back in January...mind you I only got new tasks from mid March on. Server is happily crunching like mad, credits show up no CPDN, but not anywhere else. On 4 APR 2014 I wrote: My CPDN totals are now behind only by a day or two, at most, I think... And now it's back to at least two weeks. Not a big deal...just pointing it out in case anyone wants to check it out. :-) |

I suspect that the previous updates were run manually, as a result of mods asking the project people about credits. It's still unlikely that anything much will happen with them on a permanent basis for some time, because we're up to our eyebrows trying to push out the new model. And now with coping with replies from people who have been asked to update their computers off 7.2.39, which as everyone should know, having read the News item about it, causes file transfer failures. |

So Les, realizing that it is a case of limited resources and priorities. Has the credit update component become basically a fall off the table item for the even longer haul? (it's been 2 months so far). I understand the priorities thing with limited resources as each of us allocates priorities with our limited resources as well. If the expectation is for updates is to be set as 'once we get around to it' and that you anticipate that 'around to its' won't be in stock for several additional months, that might be useful for end users who also have limited resource to allocate. Indeed, if some folks who've been in the Client BOINC user base, back off of their activities with Client, that might in fact help with the projects limited resource juggling. |

I think everything that can be said has been said. Future events will have to unfold by themselves. |

I would understand the lack of credit updates if it was due to lack of staff/resources/whatever and there were no credit updates. But, because the credit updates are working here at CPDN, is it really so hard to put the relevant credits file in the right place where the external stats sites are looking for it? |

I think it would be better - given all the recent changes - for CPDN to decide/define "from now on, our statistics are going to be *here*", and then send out a circular to tell the stats sites where to find them. |

The one thing where this might crop up for some people, depending how far out this goes, is wrt any teams running Formula BOINC http://formula-boinc.org/ It's still a half year or so away from closing off, but as climate prediction is one of the projects being tallied point wise for the year long challenge, if updates don't come about even as we near the end of the year, this could have an effect on team rankings wrt that. Of course depending how close teams are wrt other projects as well, as if the scoring is far enough apart the 1 to 25 points (depending on a team's ranking) won't make a difference, but if the final scoring comes a few points apart, it might... |

One month since the stats were updated? Really? Surely someone must know what's going on? I think it would be better - given all the recent changes - for CPDN to decide/define "from now on, our statistics are going to be *here*", and then send out a circular to tell the stats sites where to find them. Did this ever happen? Are the stats there but nobody knows where they are? Cheers, Al. |

... Are the stats there but nobody knows where they are? ... I don't think that this is the problem, the stats export files are where they usually are (default location when the BOINC server is installed) - but the (unix) timestamp in tables.xml currently is 1396540744 which converts to a human readable Thu, 03 Apr 2014 15:59:04 GMT The stats sites compare this timestamp to the latest one they imported and if it is not higher, they will skip the import of this project. I cannot check wether it is just tables.xml that is outdated or all the export files are somewhat oldish - the directory is not indexed (not readable from the web) - but usually tables.xml is updated on each export run so the timestamp should be accurate. p.s.: My patience level is still quite high as we already had major stats delays in the past and they all got fixed so far. p.p.s.: There are even two locations with identical tables.xml, one at /cpdnboinc/stats/... (default under the project root) and one at /stats/... (directly in the server root), which is a copy, not a separate export, as the timestamp cannot be identical for two separate export runs I even found a third one on climateprediction.net/stats/ but that's dated 17 Mar 2014 so it is older than the two others. |

The two stats sites I use do not seem to have noticed any credits for me in about 30 days. Once in a long time, they seem to catch up with a giant size credit. http://boinc.netsoft-online.com/e107_plugins/boinc/get_user.php?cpid=549ef8ba1b5181207e1ad3a2ba626d83&html=1 and http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/user/detail/27086/charts If I go here, the data seem to be OK. http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/results.php?userid=149 |

I wouldnt hold my breath. The credit reporting to outside stat sites has been broken for about three months and fixing it seems to have a priority somewhere between zero and negative 1 million. |

Indeed, it seems that it is in the 'noise level management' routine with a mute on noise as it is generated. I figure it isn't ever going to happen. It may reduce the work overload for the administrative types as BOINC participants shift to 'greener' fields. In fact, as folks perhaps look at the stats site, they may conclude that this project is simply moribund. It is possible that they simply have too much data to parse these days. When one of my computers running Climate suffered a bump, requiring a full reinstall of BOINC, I simply chose not to add Climate back. I suspect I may not be alone in this. I wouldnt hold my breath. The credit reporting to outside stat sites has been broken for about three months and fixing it seems to have a priority somewhere between zero and negative 1 million. |

Given your longevity in CPDN, Barry, I'm surprised you conclude "it isn't ever going to happen." We've been through these priority hassles before and it always sorted out eventually. It will surely do so in this case -- though obviously not on a time scale to suit everyone. Hang in there... ...Hang in there... What do You mean? Suicide? :-) Yes, CPDN credit problem went too far. Credits are not updated, approx. one half of external statistic sites are damaged or disturbed by CPDN. |

I guess it comes down to the motivation for joining the project. If purely for credits then I understand from others that there are projects which gain more credit/hour of whichever computers time you donate. Yes seeing your ranking going up in the stats can be nice but if it is a choice between more of the scientific work being done and the stats being sorted out I will chose the scientific work every time. |

And don't forget people who run multiple projects on a single machine: credit freezes can lead to inequitable CPU time distribution (often leading to a user having to suspend/activate on a task-by-task basis). Fortunately CPDN is not having that problem right now. |
