Richard - THANK YOU - THANK YOU for the STRAW! It worked. It has already completed 4 zip files (~ 35 MB each at a rate of ~ 65 KBps - not lightning fast but steady), 2 at a time. I'll leave it running all night - hope it'll upload the majority in the next 10 hours (takes about 8 to 10 minutes to complete a pair of uploads). I'm copying the Event Log trace for the first couple of uploads in case there may be something in there that will help someone figure out the root cause for the problem by comparing these traces to the previous failures so you can prevent this from happening to someone else. I'm having a similar problem with uploading the anz zip files however my error says the "Project file upload handler is missing". Any thought on how to resolve? I think that 'Project file upload handler is missing' is a sort of generic catch-all error message, which doesn't give any clue what might have happened to it. If I go to a browser and enter http://rwah0.rdsi.tpac.org.au/cgi-bin/file_upload_handler I get the following response. <data_server_reply> <status>1</status> <message>no command</message> </data_server_reply> I believe this is the correct response from that location so it should work. I still think the symptoms are consistent with a server problem. If you prod the upload handler with a null command (via the browser), it responds as expected - so it's there, alive and waiting. But you ask it to do something, like accept some data, it replies that it's forbidden - maybe a file system permissions error. And if the handler can't access its own disk system, there's not a lot you can do at you end except wait for somebody over there to fix it. Anybody else seeing 403s from ANZ? |

I haven't had any 403s. I've just finished uploading a lot of files held while the project was down. Nothing untoward happened. *********** Looking for: 403 Forbidden gives a lot of pages. The Wiki page says that 403 has extra numbers; e.g. 403.9 - Too many users. Patience may cure it. *********** A common problem that I get all of the time is, when 2 files start to upload and one is a bit slow, perhaps because of a slow server response, the other one can grab a large part of the bandwidth, so the slow one times out with transient HTTP error. It then goes into a backoff, but eventually all files will get uploaded. |

I'm happy to be patient but at this point I have 48 zip files awaiting transfer the oldest dated March 13th. Is there a way to do one file at a time just to see if that will resolve it? What about a different upload site? Can I control where it goes? |

What about a different upload site? Can I control where it goes? No, I am afraid they have to go to the designated upload server for that model type. Is there a way to do one file at a time just to see if that will resolve it? Yes, I believe so. But it is fiddly in that I think you have to move all except the one or two that are going into another directory and then move them back. |

Is there a way to do one file at a time just to see if that will resolve it? There's an easier way than that. You can put <max_file_xfers_per_project>1</max_file_xfers_per_project> into a Client configuration file. |

I had an idea there was another way to do it but never having had to do it myself I hadn't investigated it thouroughly enough. Will remember that though. |

And if you're going to have a cc_config file, then you may as well include: <http_1_0>1</http_1_0> Just in case there's a router/switch between you and the target server that has old software. |

Thanks for the thoughts. While I have verified that it was using http 1.0 and only 1 file at a time, I still received the 403 forbidden error and the file upload stops. However checking the server status yesterday showed that the hadam3p_anz server was down; today however it is running but the server host name has changed to boinc1.coas.oregonstate. When i run the upload it still shows that it is trying to go to the old server. How can I get it to change host destination? Rob |

Depending on how I get to the server status page I get different results. It looks like the Australia/New Zealand server is still "not running". I don't know how others are uploading but I may have to quit trying. Data eventually will not be usable any more. I'm going to stop taking more climate tasks for now and see if it starts to work at some point. |

Your "new" url is for a Pacific North West model, not for an ANZ model. If that really is for an ANZ model, then your client_state.xml file has become corrupted. ****************** "Server not working" is usually transient, as can be seen from the other messages nearby. I find that it only lasts for a few seconds, until it's "my" turn in the server's upload queue. |

ClimatePredict data still not uploading. To clear the backlog I had to kill all my processing and uploads; loosing all credit for the work that was done. Signed up for something else that I hope will work. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Rob |
