Hello,

I am having some difficulties with the graphics display from my model. The world updates and the temperatures/precipitation change but I have no text. I recently upgraded my computer so I know I am missing text - both the 'time step' and 'help screen' text is missing.

Below is a screenshot of the graphic.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Some things changed when the server stuff was upgraded, 2 of which were the options:
Side panel & Text panel

In graphics, try pressing the Z key.

No joy with pressing Z. Any other suggestions?

For further reference click below for a screenshot with the "Help Menu" up.

It looks like it may be a missing graphics driver for 32 bit programs.
I don't know where to go from here. Perhaps a Microsoft site?

My computers, both Win 7 64-bit, have normal graphics for ANZ models downloaded in the last few days.

Has anyone else got text missing from ANZ or any other type of model graphics?

I have no text in my graphics running 5 models at once. Any fix for that?

I note the computer involved is Win8.1. Does this mean equality for us linux types who have had to install 32bit libs ever since we first got 64 bit?

Here's an active link to Shankasoarus's defective graphics:

If you have graphics resembling these for any model type please post.

At first I thought these incomplete graphics could be related to some defective graphics we've recently had for Beta models (which the programmers know about) but the defects are not the same. I don't think it's the same phenomenon because on Beta all the crunchers AFAIK see the defects.

Additional information about my system.

Intel i5-4570 3.2 GHz
8 GB RAM
GeForce GTX 760
Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit

It is possible that Windows is the problem, I will check with my system running Windows 7 - 64bit later today to confirm.

Here is a fix for those missing the text in graphics.

You need to copy the content of the file into climateprediction.net project folder.

Download txt folder

my win8.1 (virtual) machine has not had this problem.
Is there any way to pin this problem down to specific version or updates?

... which rather leaves open the question of what happened to the font files in the first place. Short of deleting the folder by accident, mysteriously disappearing files perhaps suggest an over-enthusiastic virus checker moving the files to quarantine or deleting them, in which case the virus checker log should show what happened and excluding the BOINC data folder from virus scanning (e.g. C:\ProgramData\BOINC) might prevent other problems in the future. Also, the fact that rebirther has kindly come up with a fix suggests that the problem is more general, which in turn makes the accidental deletion option less likely.

Do you remember whether the 'txf' folder had itself disappeared or merely some of its contents?

In your situation I would set the project to 'no new tasks', run the existing models to completion and then do a project 'reset'; better still, 'remove' the project and then add it back again ('reset' has a more restricted scope than 'remove'). That will clear the project and ensure that all the necessary files are downloaded next time work is requested. (It would also abort any running model, which is why the running models should be finished first.)

I have made a project reset before started again to crunch. The txt folder was missing with ANZ model.

Thanks, rebirther. I will pass this onto the project team since it suggests that new joiners who have not crunched anything but ANZ models might all be missing the text in the graphics, unless there is something in common between you and ShankasoarusREX that stopped the txf folder being created.

This problem should now be fixed. New downloaders should get a proper txf folder and assorted other runaways.
