Message 49660 - Posted: 30 Jul 2014, 12:21:56 UTC

I've been getting messages like these for the last few days, is it something in my configuration or a problem server side? LHC@Home and MilkyWay@home are working ok.

FAMOUS is an old CPDN application. Presumably the files are no longer available for download on the server - so it is not a problem at your end.

Looking at a few old FAMOUS work units they seem to have had short deadlines, so should all have timed out long ago.

Was the PC trying to download a FAMOUS model? And, if so, could you post the message log from BOINC Manager if it's still there.

Thanks Iain, there were "permanent http errors" for CPDN over the last couple of days but I don't know if they were for FAMOUS models.

Dave,

Have you manually deleted files in the climateprediction.net folder? I'm wondering if at one time on that boinc installation, you had run FAMOUS, then manually deleted some FAMOUS files in the climateprediction.net folder? If they are still listed in client_state.xml, boinc will try to go back and get them. At least that's been my experience when I've manually deleted old executable/data files for applications I no longer run.

At least that's how I recall it.

Yes, good call geophi. Thought I'd delete a load of old stuff thinking it was no further use. Are you saying CPDN still needs these files and I should restore them?

Probably best to set "no new tasks" and wait until your current models have finished and then do a project reset. That should convince client_state.xml that FAMOUS is not needed, so the attempts to download the application will stop (which will never succeed because the application is no longer available).
