Fot the first time I am running a 64-bit Windows OS. But the climateprediction.net units start without problem, 4 of them at a time on my new PC with A10-6700 4 core CPU. Does Windows 8.1 have the compatibility libraries installed by default?

Nothing have crashed: The Status say: Communication deferred.

If you click on the a (your user name) then the view link at the bottom of the page to look at the computer(s) on your account, then click on tasks. You will see that they all finished with a computing error. If you click on one of the individual tasks, then on the + sign next to where it says stderr you will find the details of the error

Edit: Is there a sticky somewhere on doing this to help those new to the system to find out what went wrong and make their requests for help more informative?

The above is for one of them. libstdc++.so.6 is the first of the missing libraries required that the program attempts to load. If you follow the instructions in the link you will be able to install the 32bit version of it and the others that will also cause tasks to crash if you don't install them.

I went through the same process when I first moved up to 64 bit linux but didn't have a link explaining the process as clearly to help me through it at the time - I would have sorted things much quicker if I did!

I have installed this packages on Ubuntu 14.04 64bit:

PS. The last task listed under are from 7:42.35 today, before I installled the old 32-bits library.

I think there is a limit on how many tasks you can download/core/day on your machine so you may have reached it. This is to stop machines that are crashing everything (and there are a lot of them) hogging all the bandwidth and incidentally using up all of the crunching machines data allowance with their isp.

The bottom line is that barring anything else being missing, you should be able to get some work tomorrow which should run.

Yes, seems that there have being 5 test / day, so will stop and trie another day.

You don't need to remove the project, things will reset at midnight to allow more tasks to be downloaded.

Okey. But i removed it, not so hard :) I have started now, and the status is:

Comunicatin defeered and a countdown timer approx. 00:.55:13.

Does it mean that i take about 55 minutes before the data are transferred and computed?


Is there a way to test if my computing application can compute, with the new 32-bit library?

The BOINC Manager countdown timer is intended to reduce the load on the project server by restricting the number of times a computer can download or request data. There are thousands of computers attached to the project and at times the server could be overwhelmed with requests: the timer reduces the chances of that happening.

The timer doesn't affect the ability to compute once a model has been downloaded: the model should start straight away if there are computing resources available.

If a model starts then that will prove the 32-bit compatibility libraries are installed correctly. If the model fails then a more detailed investigation might be necessary to find out whether the crash happened because of the 32-bit libraries or for some other reason.

This from the top post in this section enables you to check for dependencies for each model.

you can run the command "ldd" from command line in a terminal window on the cpdn executable programs, which should give you the dependencies that need to be installed. The executables are in the projects/climateprediction.net directory under the main BOINC installation directory.

So, for each cpdn program/application in the ..../projects/climateprediction.net folder you would run an ldd command on it and it will return the needed dependencies.

ldd hadam3p_anz_um_6.10_i686-pc-linux-gnu (for a main model executable in for the regional Australia/New Zealand model)

ldd hadam3p_anz_graphics_6.10_i686-pc-linux-gnu (for the graphics display program for that model)

etc.

Don't be tempted into clicking update on the project as this will restart the clock on the countdown.

Could it be that I had SETI@home active, during the time for connection?

You appear to have two tasks downloaded and labeled as, "in progress."

It may be they won't start till your running SETI tasks finish.

If you have lot of Seti work you might consider suspending it for a short time to allow your CPDN WU�s to start. This will allow you to see if the problem is fixed and the CPDN WU's are going to run properly. A few hours would do this and not harm Seti at all.

I came just home ad saw that I have Calculation errors in the 2 downloaded 'work'. I don't find were the installation boinc-folder are located to run ldd.

They are not in /home

some boinc-folders are in /usr and some in /var and some in /etc


Do i run ldd it ask for more option or some thing.
Will stop now, so I don't get blacklisted or something...

The errors are specific to each task/model.

1) click on a task name in the 1st column in the list of tasks
2) scroll down a bit until you see Stderr
3) click on the + to the right of Stderr to expand the error list
