Hello,

I just crunched another 4 WUs for CPDN. today I was wondering why I got no credits for these WUs. After getting to my account, I had do see that these WUs are not claiming any Credits!!

For Details click here

can anyboy tell me what is the reason for his behavior?

It is not nice to contribute a couple of day of CPU time when youre getting zero credits.

kind regards

If you look at these tasks you will see that they only have around 70 seconds of cpu time despite the much longer run time. There are two problems with this type of work unit. One is that crashes seem much more common on Windows boxes than Linux. The second is that the latest batch have got some parameters wrong which is causing most if not all of them to crash on all computers. Probably best to exclude the hadcm3s tasks through your account page till this is sorted.

It also depends what timescale you consider. If your requirement is to be allocated credits immediately then this project will nearly always be a disappointment, since credits are updated as a batch and not in real time. At the moment the credit system is not in a very good state, being run irregularly or producing the wrong number of credits. However, it always works out in the end.

Same problem here. After resetting a WU which after many days still showed --- in both Runtime and CPUtime (as well as credit earned and claimed), I downloaded two new tasks and after more than 24 hours, nothing has happened. I now show 4 units in progress, but I believe all 4 are running without really doing anything.

The discussion thread for the problems with the "short" models, including their failure after about 10 seconds, is here: Compute Errors on HadCM3 short Tasks.

I am back, because the problem seems to be with whatever model I download. Should I just reset or abort again and forget about running CPDN?

Looking at one of the tasks that you aborted by clicking on your user name, then view computers, and then tasks and after selecting a task finally clicking on the + sign next to Stderr I see this:

<core_client_version>7.2.42</core_client_version>

Which looks suspiciously like the problem described in this thread http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=7909#50280 i.e. virus checker is preventing one of the files from being downloaded correctly because a string in the several thousand lines of code matches a virus signature.

Having (temporarily, I hope) given up on CPDN, I decided to try SETI. Same problem. Is all of BOINC infected?

If you're getting download failures on the tasks you were allocated at SETI (24 Sep 2014, 7:57:39 UTC), I'd say that the cause is almost certainly an anti-virus program or malware blocker on your own machine.

We did have work allocation problems at SETI the day before, but they were cleared about six hours before your request - and didn't affect downloads of the tasks that were allocated, in any event.

I'm seeing a problem with credit as well. The WU completed and uploaded successfully, but no credit was claimed or granted. It also doesn't show on my "Pending Credit" list.

http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=17123478

I don't particularly care about the credits, but it would be nice for it work.

Pending credits aren't used with CPDN. It is a BOINC thing, just like deadlines for tasks.

As to the no credit claimed or granted from the task, I don't understand that. Just checked that all my recently completed and my two running tasks have been granted credit for the trickles that have been sent.

Edit: Don't know if it is relevant but clicking on the stderr + on that task shows a lot of suspend requests from BOINC.

I know it will be added at some point but the statistics tab on my BOINC doesn't show any addition since the last correction after credits shot up to an astronomical value.

Hi have the same behavior as Jeremy (post #50379). I did 2 tasks recently and did not get any creadits:

Task ID 17277217, WU 9263998
Task ID 17277207, WU 9263988

These tasks are marked as completed, no error seem to have occured.

Credits are created differently on this project, by some scripts which count ALL trickle_up files that have been returned.
But we've had problems with these scripts running amok since all of our servers became VMs.

They now have to be run manually one line at a time, which only happens once or twice a month.

There's a thread here which started out talking about it, but has now become a place for whinging.
