As advised previously by experts I let this WU repeatedly fail after 11 secs. until it gave up exhausted. I have had this type of failure now with all CPN WU's for 3 weeks. Any advance on try again?

Try Ron's advice in the thread below as you are using windows 8.

http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=7873#50480

Also if you haven't already done this, check the box, leave applications in memory while suspended this under tools, computing preferences, disk and memory usage and under tools, computing preferences, processor usage ensure "while processor usage is less than" is set to 0% meaning no restriction.

And if none of the above makes any difference my only suggestion is to try Linux.

I don't think .net framework 3.5 could cause or cure the 12-second restart problem - if that was needed but missing, the app couldn't start at all.

If Mike Molson is running BOINC in service mode and is willing to be a mine canary, he could test the version downgrade suggestion I've just posted in HadCM3 short - errors galore. Please report back, success or failure.
