Am I right in assuming that BOINC only uses space on the system (Windows XP) - my system only has a small C: drive (where I want the software), but another big drive where I put data - how do I tel BOINC to put its data there?

The solution is to install BOINC in its own directory on the partition where you want the data. Just change the default installation path.

I have the same problem, and do not believe that this should be the final solution.

I have a 'program' partition where I put software, and which is locked down to prevent unwanted execution and modifications. I have a 'data' partition where applications can write stuff, but which can not be executed. None of my tools would expect to find application code on the data partition, nor do I want to start making exceptions.

See <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=444">this thread</a>, but note the disclaimers. :)
