I am now officially baffled by the statements of those Windows 10 users who say that their computers don't reboot when Windows Update requires it. I've got Win10 Pro and Windows Update just rebooted it - a three day ultimatum makes no difference if I'm running a 10-day simulation or logging data for a month or if I have the temerity to be away somewhere on Patch Tuesday. With BOINC it can be managed as long as restarts from a checkpoints are reliable (which is not always the case), but I greatly resent being required to intervene manually because Microsoft has decided to reboot my machine. A PC is a tool, like a pencil - my pencil doesn't reboot half way through writing something and neither should my PC. |

A PC is a tool, like a pencil - my pencil doesn't reboot half way through writing something and neither should my PC. This. I'm with you. I now have a laptop with Win10...god help me. Hate this attitude they have of hiding things, treating all Windows users like idiots and taking away any real control. They've always had an attitude, it's just gotten much more repugnant with Win10. |
