Don't worry.
I had the same error a little after 5pm today. My GSM based internet had a short dropout.

File was succesfully uploaded after a 10 minute project backoff.

I have had the same error on a few zips as well, approximately 1 in 5 uploads. These files upload, then following 100% upload, they will indicate the transient error, and upload again. The trickles show to have been uploaded as they are listed on the Task's list.

As all looks fine anyway, I would not bother, but these files are larger than usual and thus require much bandwidth. These errors and their re-uploads (I've seen up to three full re-uploads with 70Mb files), they are thus becoming quite bandwidth "expensive". Can the upload be aborted after a first 100% "trial"?

You can always abandon the task, but personally I think this will not be a very good idea. You have already spent the power doing the calculations, so I think You should get the results back to the scientists.

I am, myself, on a GSM Internet with a fixed quota, so I think I understand Your dilemma.

I have the following suggestions for You:

If You are temporary running out of quota, suspend network traffic untill Your quota is renewed.

In BOINC Manager/Options/Computing Pref./Network, fill out the "Limit Usage" fields. Here You can grant BOINC the quota You can afford to use.

If Your Internet connection is slow, Limit the Upload Rate. If I understand this BOINC thing correctly, this will make BOINC more patient, granting You more time to transfer the files before BOINC gives up.

Maybe we can persuade the crew to tell us, for each task, the anticipated data x-fer size. This way You can actively deselect the tasks You can not afford to transfer.

Whatever You choose, I wish You the best of luck and happy crunching. :)

I was hoping though for an explanation as to why the zips were fully uploading a 2nd and 3rd time. To say again: BOINC does not give up on the file in the middle of its upload or whenever, but only when 100% is fully uploaded, then decides to re-upload them. Maybe BOINC just wants to make sure it's really, really uploaded :)

This never occurred on other models before.

Set the <http_debug> logging option, and you will get better information about exactly why the upload is failing. It might be something, like an overfull storage disk, that the staff can do something about, but they need your detailed input first.

It seems there is a problem with some upload servers or else

Me too.
I can't even get them to start, so I've turned off the net access until tomorrow.

I have trouble too to get the my wah2_sas50 task uploaded (or recognize it's uploaded, or whatever the error is).

The server was overloaded, which set off alarms, and "things" were done.

Mine are now uploading, (although it took a while to convince BOINC to do something), so hopefully other people's uploads are going back as well.

All gone now - something over 50 zips waiting to be sorted when I got home after two weeks away, one machine seemed to just clear everything on its own while the other needed me to mess about a bit. Anyway, now I have upgraded to latest Ubuntu and had to install wine by hand after doing a fresh install...1 - Breaks in work availability are good for that!

I am getting the transiet HTTP error when downloading new tasks.

I have just one WU which keeps failing while uploading. Many other WUs from CPDN work just fine. I have tried uploading from 3 different networks without help.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Should I just abort this one WU and move on?

I think that would be safe as it is showing as completed and you have the credit for it. Which is the stuck file? If it is one of the zips I will enquire with project in case they feel it would be useful to get the file.

I think that task with the upload problems is actually at:

https://www.cpdn.org/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=21273448

so has not completed, officially. At first I thought it was related to the recent http errors on the download server, but then I looked at that task and saw that the model had essentially completed Aug 25th with the 12th trickle listed. So it must have been trying to upload those two zips for the last month. Something else is going on with that task and those files. I'm just not sure what.

Getting this on an hadcm3s task at the moment.
