I have "all" selected in preferences.
Still getting "Your current settings do not allow tasks from this project.To fix this you can change Project Preferences on the project site.
Status page show hadam3p-afr available but nothing downloaded.
Have reset project to no avail.
I have limited computer knowledge and am starting to wonder if after 12 years this site is beyond my capabilities. Having to introduce Windows 10 after a disk failure has not been any help
I have a powerful processor and heaps of space left and do not mind long tasks. However,I don't have enough confidence to introduce Linux or play with the Virtual Box.
How do I sort this-or is it time to move off this site.

If you have all of the model types ticked, then you should get work.
However, I'm suspicious of the specific message that you quote:

Your current settings do not allow tasks from this project.

That's not wording that I've seen before, although I guess that they could have changed between versions. And it may be Windows specific wording.

First place to check on the cpdn web site would be the computing prefs.

It may also be something in your BOINC manager settings on your computer, even though the message says project site

Also, check the venue that your computer is using, and make sure that you don't have it set for something different.
Perhaps you have Time-of-day restrictions somewhere? (Clutching at straws now. :) )

Others will probably know more than me about the message.

Ahh - the message about model types is:
Message from server: No work available for the applications you have selected. Please check your project preferences on the web site.

So yours is NOT about not having all of the apps selected.

You've already told us that.

Whatever is wrong, it's most likely a BOINC setting, either in your Account page on the project's web site, on in your BOINC manager.
You're the only one who can see these, and you're the only on who can fix it. The rest of us have to make guesses.

My next guess is that you've used a Venue in your account page, and then only set the options there and not for the default venue. Then you didn't select Network activity based on preferences.

Or you've accidentally clicked on that option in the BOINC manager, instead of on Network activity always available. Although in that case, I'm not sure what else is wrong somewhere.

I have just noticed words faintly in the bottom left hand corner of the screen
"Waiting for climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk"
10 minute wait did nothing.
Possibly may have something to do with it.

Came right on a second attempt later.

No change.

Finally found problem was caused by having inadvertently ticked a Linux required

project.

Corrected mistake and program reverted to normal " No work available."

Virtual Box work for an 82 year old cruncher.

That's the trouble with things these days: too many options. :)

A chap by the nic' of Tullio uses VB, so hopefully he'll be able to help.

He's in Italy, so have to wait until it's day time there, and he next looks at the boards.

I am Tullio and do not see the problem. I am running 5 CERN projects on this Windows 10 PC using Virtual Box 5.0.10, plus a SuSE Linux Virtual Leap 42.1 just to try it, and a Solaris 11.3 mostly for nostalgy, since it has no BOINC projects. I do not advice to install Leap as a Linux Virtual Machine since its BOINC client and Boinc manager do not work. I have two Linux boxes running SuSE 13.1 and 13.2 and one of them runs 32-bit CPDN projects. Maybe Ubuntu Linux is easier for a Windows user, also the Linux BOINC client is developed on it.

Actually Don, I've just started to wonder why you want VB.
Is to run Linux models on cpdn? Because if so, most of the current and upcoming models are Windows. It might be a while before new work for Linux is released.

(I just did a web search for installing virtual box.)
