Batches 651-654 were released yesterday, including Africa and PNW runs (batch list).

If you've not looked at the CPDN front page for a while, it's worth having an occasional look at the Recent CPDN Submissions panel - they are generally links that take you to a longer description of the relevant project. At the moment Forest Mortality, Economics, and Climate in Western North America (FMEC) and an external site, HAPPI - Half a degree Additional warming, Prognosis and Projected Impacts.

656 and presumably 655 have added a few thousand to the hopper. Not up on front page of project yet.

Thanks. For the FMEC project, the link on the climateprediction.net site to Oregon State's page seems wrong - the page links to http://terraweb.forestry.oregonstate.edu/FMEC.htm, the lab + project page seems to be http://terraweb.forestry.oregonstate.edu/forest-mortality-economics-and-climate-change-western-north-america now?

Thanks, an e-mail has now been sent to the project so that they can correct that link.

[Edit: Fixed.]

There's a new batch of 7,200 49-month PNW models (batch list).

[Edit: Plus 5,160 of a new combination, 10-month CAM25 - batches 659-660.]

Batch #661 contains 1,650 13-month NAM models (batch list). There were a few spin-up models for this region (North America) over the summer, but this is the first large batch.

Is the new PNW 25m work available for Mac or Linux?

Doesn't look like it. It's a regular Weather At Home 2 task https://www.cpdn.org/cpdnboinc/apps.php that is Windows only at this time.

Of some interest - the owner of batch 664-666 (the PNW FMEC project), Linnia Hawkins, talked about climate modeling on the August 25th episode of Earth Report Radio.

climateprediction.net didn't come up, but discussion of downscaling models from 50 km -> 2/5 km did.

Thanks for that - I've downloaded the podcast and will listen to it now ...

There are indeed some new batches of PNW and CAM models: 240 x PNW25/60 (#665), 13,660 x PNW25/24 (666) and 100 x CAM50/13 (667).

And a few more thousand work units in the hopper, at least for Windows users. Latest is batch 670 which are sas region and relatively short tasks I assume at 3 months.

Sadly the same is true for Mac users at the moment. It would be nice if some work could be done in testing to try and track down the source of the crashes with some forcings in place or to create a second WAH2 task type which only tasks without this forcing could be created with.

I'm happy to allocate few cores for testing under Linux, but is there CPDN beta?

Bernard,

Beta is no longer the test-mode. A new mechanism is used and it seems to be an amalgam of Alpha and Beta.

Linux is represented among testers. Thanks for the offer.
