#877 and #878 have had all tasks waiting to go out withdrawn as many produce uploads greater than the limit allowed causing some to fail at 100% completion. They will be re-issued shortly.

Edit: Those already sent out will be left to run. Credit will be granted.

I have few of these, should I let them finish or should I abort?

I am letting mine run. but I have edited my client_state.xml as I described in a thread in the Linux section to increase the maximum file size. From that thread, also if you make sure the final zip finishes uploading before the task reports, that it seems also works. (with my bored band and if two are uploading at once they wouldn't stand a chance.)

Nothing more for Windows has been flagged up as being imminent. However, that doesn't always mean anything. Sometimes it seems the availability of work is determined by a random number generator.

It could be pseudo random. A maths Boinc project could be set up to work out the seed.

According to the server status page there are over 600 tasks available for UK Met Office HadAM4 at N216 resolution

From what I understand these are Linux tasks, but I am not getting any work when requesting it from my Linux system.

Are there any special requirements for these tasks that I am not aware of ?

Can you post what you get in the event log when you request work from the project? - Many do succeed in getting work which they then crash due to not having the relevant 32 bit library files.

Also worth noting having requested work there is a back off period of one hour before you can request work again. If you do try earlier the hour's back off starts again.

I use Boinctasks, but it shows that in the projects tab too. I just wondered what the point of the message I got from the server was.

I assume CPDN has a long backoff due to small amounts of available work. If they didn't, computers would be pestering the server endlessly, although Boinc does automatically increase the time when it's unsuccessful.

Milkyway is the other place I encounter it. They only have a 90 second backoff, but their GPU tasks take 30 seconds, and the server refuses [1] to send new work at the same time as receiving results. So if I'm just running Milkyway, when Boinc gets low on work and wants more, it sends my completed tasks back at the same time, and doesn't get any work. It then has to wait 90 seconds and does the same again, never getting any work until I've completed everything. Then there's some hidden 8 minute delay (Boinc client impatience?), which it ignores if I click update.

[1] I think due to a misconfiguration they refuse to (or don't know how to) fix. Someone complained to the previous project manager and got no response. I complained to the new project manager a few months ago and he said he'd look into it, but nothing ever happened.

Why can't Boinc servers hand out meaningful responses? There has to be a reason for no work sent, it should state it. Sometimes it does when it feels like it and says "project has no tasks available", or "you need more RAM for the available tasks" or something.

Perhaps if he turned some debug logging on, there would be a meaningful response given to locate the problem? I've done that before with other projects. But don't turn everything on at once or it actually bogs down the whole machine writing logs!
