The project (and the rest of the OeRC department), were off air for several months with major server failures.

That server name, "ithaqua", is the one used by a backup server that was used at the time to get parts of the project working quickly. (Mostly the Message board.)
Any work units downloaded at that time will be old, unneeded ones. Also, "ithaqua" is no longer a working server name, so nothing can be sent back to it.

Just Abort them (if that's even possible), and get some of the fresh new tasks.

You should follow the New work thread in the Number crunching section if you have problems with the new ones. A lot of people are, for some reason.

Also, I have just done some looking at history of discussions among testers/moderators on batch 689 and there were lots of problems with stuck uploads on that batch almost from the start. I would echo Les's advice and say abort. I know that batch hasn't actually been closed yet but some which came out afterwards have been.
