has anyone succesfully tried funning Both versions of BOINC on one machine, trying to get in crunching SETI and Climate on one. PUT Boinc (climate) on my C drive. Reinstalled BOINC 3.2 (SETI) on G. joined the Seti project and lost all of the info on climate (including a just started wu) is it possible or do I just run on different machines until SETI update to V4? Actually on further thought it is probably not a good idea to run climate on the same machine as SETI predictor pirates etc. With a time to run of 800 hours or so on my 2.8GHz machine I cannot see me doing any SETI units. Will probably be best if supporting multiple projects to allocate the machines rather than resources on the machines. Of course it would get round some of the gripes on the SETi board, download one unit and you have a year to get it done, by my reckoning if the estimated time is true I am looking at having this first unit done about christmas! 1. You must use the BOINC Client 4.xx for CPDN and 3.xx for SETI, Predictor and Pirate at this moment. Doing this on one PC is not possible. In the future the other projects will go to 4.xx too. I believe this will happen very quick. 2. And there will be a change of work scheduling with the the 4.xx release which will allow BOINC to stop crunching a long running WU, crunch a other WU and continue crunching the first WU. This is not really testet with multiple projects, but after it workes as planned, it should allow you to allow you to do both projects on one client. It is described here: BOINC Client scheduling policies Greetings from Bremen/Germany Jens Seidler Webmaster http://www.boinc.de/ |
